MARS OPPOSITE JUPITER — EXACT ON OCTOBER 28, 2012

Dear Friends and Readers, Mars is a symbol for physical energy, initiative and courage and can also symbolize fights and accidents.  Some people handle Mars energy better than others.  Mars is excitable, particularly when combined with other planets.  For example, Mars/Uranus is absolutely volatile.  I was considering a trip when I realized I didn’t want to be on the road at the end of the month.  This month we find transiting Mars in Sagittarius and it will oppose Jupiter in Gemini exact on the 28th.  Allowing for orb gives us a week around that date.  My feeling on this is it’s very possible to over-do, over-book, and considering the fact that these two planets are in the travel signs, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out we all need to be cautious during the few days before and after the exact transit.

Sag as a sign, and remember that it’s ruled by Jupiter, is famous for overdoing.  If you see a chart with Moon in Sag then you know they tend toward too much of a good thing — both food and drink.  Of course in a natal chart much would depend on the aspects to that Moon and today we’re focusing on an opposition transit between Mars and Jupiter, but you get the picture.

This year with Jupiter in Gemini, I’ve been watching clients with planets in Gemini packing their schedule so tightly that there’s no margin for error.  Jupiter is an expansive planet and they are just being over-optimistic in planning their time.  What if there’s construction delays?  What if there’s a longer line than usual at the store, the Post Office, the gas station, etc. etc.

OK, let’s add Mars to the mix and explore the possibilities…when  drivers are in a hurry they forget to be courteous.  Road rage is a worst case scenario. Looking at less frightening possibilities, fender benders are entirely possible.  Delays at airports or trouble finding parking can ruin schedules.  Same thing with trains — Gemini rules trains.  NEVER try to beat a train by speeding across the tracks even though the lights are flashing.  You’d think people would know this, but just watch this opposition on a world level and see what happens.  For the record, I would prefer to be wrong about this.

Same thing with drinking and driving — very dangerous at any time and even more so at the end of October.  There’s a radio ad here, “Drive hammered, get nailed”,  and you can bet that the law will be eager to ticket sober  drivers who speed at that time, too.

Jenae, are you being too negative about this transit?  After all, you’re the one who taught us to look at both the positive and negative expressions of every aspect or transit!!!  OK, I hear you, let’s look at the other side….

For students of any age, this opposition transit can signal a breakthrough in your studies.  You can be very inspired, too, if you need to write a paper or report.  The confidence and enthusiasm of this transit can help you overcome fear of failure.  Just remember to allow some extra time to finish, proof read, etc.  Using Mars as initiative and Jupiter as expanding the mind and everyday thinking patterns is a positive for language studies, too. What a fine transit to learn a foreign language!  This is a great transit to form friendships across any barriers, fabulous for penpal projects at school involving a foreign country, sister city plans, reaching out across boundaries of ethnicity, race, religion, etc.

Look at your natal chart to see what houses are accented by Mars opposite Jupiter.   In general, use some caution and moderation to balance the potential excess of this transit.  Don’t promise more than you can deliver 🙂 Blessings, Jenae

WISH UPON A STAR — MERCURY CONJUNCT SATURN — OCTOBER  5 & 6, 2012

Hello dear Friends and Readers, the apples were calling, but now I have some time to write and I notice Mercury and Saturn will conjoin on October 5th.  I think this is an interesting transit and in view of Saturn’s entry into Scorpio the same day, we should explore the possibilities…

First of all, we should allow some orb so figure the effects of this transit can last for a few days either side of the 6th. Conjunction means the union of 2 planets, and it the most powerful aspect of all.  Just for simplicity, you can see Mercury as intellect/everyday thinking patterns/communication and Saturn as focus/concentration/overcoming obstacles and turning them into accomplishments.  I have seen people with Mercury conjunct Saturn in their natal be almost tongue-tied, very inhibited about expressing their ideas.  I have also seen it manifest as someone extremely concentrated and precise in conversation.  Scorpio  rules mysteries among other things, making this a good period to bring to the surface ideas, beliefs, issues, etc. that have been long buried.  During the 2nd week of October, Mercury will sextile Pluto (ruler of Scorp),  which will aid this process of uncovering the truth.  You can use these transits to find missing items, especially paperwork, but there are lots of other potential meanings, too.  Pluto was considered the God of the underworld, and during this time the energy of plants retreats into the seed as the days shorten and winter approaches.  No coincidence that Scorp rules sexuality, the SEED of life and renewal…

So this is a great private detective kind of energy.  Depending on your natal chart,  you might explore geneology and/or family secrets,  catch up with financial paperwork, have serious business discussions, or even have important family planning conversations.  By family planning I mean all issues that affect your family — Scorpio rules shared money, power, love and intimacy.  Saturn here for the next few years means ALL OF US are asked to make good decisions that allow all parties involved to benefit, whether it’s a marriage or the whole planet.  We definitely need to shift belief systems here to win-win rather than adversarial win-lose situations.

The energy of this conjunction is serious and concentrated, not necessarily difficult or negative, but definitely results-oriented.  This is a great time to study, to probe for truth, to prepare important paperwork, and to have deep talks with the people you care about.  This applies internally as well; have a talk with yourself, or observe your habitual thinking patterns and decide if you need to change them.  Observe your speech and eliminate self-deprecating remarks by stating the opposite to neutralize any negativity you might find.  I had a friend, long ago, who was a more active person in a family of bookworms.  There was nothing wrong with her mind, she just had a need for more physical activity than the others.  Since it was hard for her to sit still, somehow she got the idea she was inferior and she’d begin sentences with “I’m so stupid…” but she wasn’t at all.  She would also deflect any compliments and admiration that came her way.  This Mercury-Saturn conjunction is great for changing habits, but only if YOU decide to change them.  The fixed energy of Scorp will resist any outside pressure.  Let’s say you don’t put yourself down verbally.  How about mentally?  Are you being too hard on yourself?  Unrealistic expectations?  Internalizing old tapes from childhood?  Practice the art of accepting a sincere compliment graciously.  It takes time to change mental patterns but this conjunction, in my opinion, is one of the absolute best times to begin that process.

Comments and  suggestions are welcomed…Blessings, Jenae

WISH UPON A STAR — FULL MOON — SEPTEMBER 30, 2012

A reader asked me to write about the Full Moon.  So, dear friends and readers, here it is…

Wherever the Sun is, the Full Moon is in the opposite sign.  New Moon means Sun and Moon in the SAME sign.  Tomorrow’s FULL MOON is 7 degrees Aries, with the Sun at 7 Libra.  Transiting Pluto is tightly square these two at 6 degrees Capricorn just before the exact Full Moon.  This configuration is called a T-Square and pushes energy out the empty space, in this case Cancer.

Early Sunday morning is a time to stay home and lay low, in my opinion.  Fights, disagreements, and power struggles are a possibility because of the Pluto square.  Do what you can to be polite, calm, and defuse any tensions at home.  Consider some exercise or dancing to take the pressure off. The Full Moon increases pressure on the natural environment and we could see increased geological activity.

There are other Full Moons with more pleasant transits, but this one only has one positive transit and in afternoon there’s a nice sextile between the Moon and Jupiter.  Now that’s the time to go out and about — short trips (Gemini), visiting family, some shopping, maybe a fun local outdoor event.  Jupiter in Gemini is a positive for siblings, cousins, and the local neighborhood.

My observation is the Full Moon is in effect for about three days.  I have watched for years and there doesn’t seem to be a pattern to predict whether  it’s going to hit the day before, the day of, or the day after.  But it WILL hit and people will notice it.  Especially people who deal with the public.  My experiences have taught me to be a little cautious during these periods.  I have found that some Cancers, who are ruled by the Moon, actually like Full Moons and feel energized by them.

If I notice anything important about tomorrow I will add a comment to this blog.  Stay safe…Blessings, Jenae
