Good Morning Dear Readers and Friends…the thought occurred to me during this Mercury retrograde transit that I should go back over the past a bit, sharing all the things that I have seen happen when a person goes through their first Saturn return…

Saturn takes approximately 29 1/2 years to transit all the way around the wheel of the chart. The first Saturn return takes place at that time — it means that Saturn is transiting conjunct to the place it was when you were born.  Depending on your individual chart and the  various aspects to your Saturn, it can be difficult in the extreme, or  even  relatively mild, but it ALWAYS serious and a time of commitment. Often, an older person will show up in your life at that time to function as a mentor or a guide. The law says you are an adult when you are 18 or 21, but older people start giving you more respect at 30 when you’ve completed the first Saturn return. Depending on your chart, you may just have one conjunction, but since Saturn is a slow and heavy planet you need to allow at least  a few degrees of orb.  Let’s say, for example that you have Saturn at 15 degrees of Libra and TRANSITING Saturn conjoins and then during the retrograde phase it comes back to 18 degrees Libra before going back into direct motion. You’re still going to  feel the heaviness of that conjunction, the after ripples, even though it is 3 degrees from exact. More often, the person will experience 3 exact conjunctions — forward, retrograde, then forward again.

OK, you are thinking, but what does it MEAN?  Saturn symbolizes authority. This transit is deeply a review of all the input that authority figures have had in your life thus far — parents, teachers, church, government, etc. The first Saturn return is a time when YOU choose what to keep and what to let go of, in terms of values and deciding whether all that previous input works for you or not. It takes courage and hard work (internally) to become your own authority, but that is just part of the task. Saturn is  also a symbol for career and how you define success in the outer world. When we are kids, our parents tell us (hopefully) that we can be anything we want to be when we grow up. As we mature, enter college, etc. we begin to realize that we can’t do it all, so we begin to choose that which is most meaningful to us.  Saturn is about bringing  goals into physical manifestation and it works through restriction, concentration, focus, and the ability to delay instant gratification for long-term rewards. So the first Saturn return is very often a commitment to a career, or a change in career.  It’s about choosing which door to walk through, and once we choose, other doors close silently.

I’ve seen people get married, or divorced, when they were going through their Saturn return. I know two  ladies with strong Scorpio themes who were widowed on both their 1st AND 2nd Saturn returns. When a child is born on your Saturn return, there’s a strong tie with that child. A karmic tie. Saturn, Pluto, and Neptune can indicate karmic ties — best to look carefully at both parents’ and the childs’ chart to see clues of how to manage the possibilities for positive results.

Mine was a change in career. When I was 28, I got the best job of my life at that time. I have Saturn in Virgo, so it figures :)) Virgo is health work and service to others. I job-shared with a dear friend and we had a great boss who encouraged our creativity. We worked long hours but it built my confidence in myself. When you are born with Saturn in your 1st house it takes getting older to become confident and believe in yourself. We even beat out 38 other social service contractors vying for a grant from the City of Salem because we were the ONLY preventative program.  We managed several acres of community gardens scattered across a tri-county area of the Willamette Valley.  Bringing better health and a better diet to many people — a good description of Saturn in Virgo :))

Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn and symbolizes bones, joints, and teeth. I knew a woman who was a nurse and she was starting her 1st Saturn return and she didn’t like her job. But she wouldn’t do anything about it. Then she broke her leg! So she couldn’t work, and while she was healing she realized that she HAD to make a change in career.  There’s an old saying…”The wheels of the Gods grind slow but exceedingly fine…” Make no mistake — Saturn returns are serious business designed to help us grow and if we refuse the task and the challenges in front of us at that time, there are most assuredly penalties.

SO…now I want to hear from you, if you are  28-30 and experiencing  the pressure of making important long-term decisions. Send me your birth data and whether you are male or female. My goal is to encourage an open discussion of this important time in peoples’ lives. I will post it and write what I see, minus your name, to protect your privacy.

Thanks for reading and watch for my next blog post — Uranus enters Taurus on May 15, 2018… Namaste, Jenae

SATURN IN CAPRICORN — 12-20-2017 to 12-16-2020

TRANSITING SATURN CONJUNCT TRANSITING PLUTO — JANUARY 2020 – EXACT 1-12-2020

Happy Solstice, dear Friends and Readers, and Mercury goes forward this evening (12-22) — finally !! With Saturn at 29 degrees Sag and Mercury retro in Sag, I’m sure you’ve been aware of the number of transportation accidents. Hopefully, this will ease up now that Mercury is direct and just in time for the holidays. Still, please drive carefully…

Saturn rules Capricorn, so this long transit will be especially strong and important. First, let’s go over some of the qualities represented by Saturn. If Jupiter is expansion, then Saturn is contraction and restriction. The secret of success with Saturn is to narrow down your perspective, focus and concentrate on dotting every i and crossing every t.  Long hours, hard work, lots of self-discipline and the ability to delay immediate gratification for long-term rewards will enable most of us to accomplish big goals and bring what was just a dream or a fantasy into physical manifestation. Capricorn is an earth sign.

Here’s some little tidbits about Caps…they’re old when they’re young, and young when they’re old. There is often ill health or some kind of restriction of activities when they are young. They just get better and better as they mature. By about 35, they’re doing quite well and basically age slower than other people so by the time they are 50, they  look younger than others. It’s the sign that rules bones, joints, and teeth — all of us will need  to  pay attention and take care with these parts of the body over the next few years.  I expect big breakthroughs in medical with this — research that has been going on for years finally comes to fruition. Capricorn people often start a very successful career late in life.  Jimmy Buffett would be a good example. They don’t just sit around in a rocking chair — old age seems to energize them and they are out and about, doing, accomplishing, and in general the 2nd half of life is lighter, freer, happier.

There was an interesting article a few months ago about scientists figuring out why the Roman concrete in the Mediterranean harbors was still standing and why the modern concrete doesn’t last as long. Evidently the ancients used the same lime, sand, gravel, and rock, but they added volcanic ash and SEA water. And with good results !!! I think we will see Planning Commissions finally get smart about what building materials are needed and how to build to offset the damage from hurricanes, tornados, floods, etc. Building in harmony with the environment will be an expanding theme over the next few years, with breakthroughs in materials used, too. Capricorn, being an earth sign, suggest rock, wood, clay, brick, cement, concrete, etc.  My impression is that innovative scientists, chemists, builders, architects, etc. will take the traditional materials and add something else, tweak them a bit, or use the latest chemistry to increase longevity/durability, the strength, the energy efficiency, etc. Just like they have regular drywall, but also mold-resistant drywall, too. You may wonder why I don’t mention steel and glass? To me, these are more under the Mars rulership because high heat is required to produce them.

Sometimes I feel like a broken record, reminding people to live their lives as if they will be tomorrow’s front page headlines, and warning younger people to keep it clean on social media since whatever they post is there forever.  Have you not noticed that the skeletons are coming out of peoples’ closets right and left?  Pope Francis said that the more powerful someone is, the more humble they need to be. Capricorn is a symbol for authority figures and the power structures that rules our lives one way or another — government, church, schools, etc.  I suppose we could add Hollywood to the list, since they influence the culture so heavily.  If people in positions of power and authority think they are above the law and they can do whatever they want with no consequences, then those that are drunk on their own power are going to find out that Saturn in Cap means they will pay a heavy price for their actions.  As Saturn transits further into Capricorn and begins to approach transiting Pluto, this will become a main world theme.  I read the USA news but I suspect the same things are happening world wide. You think the headlines are bad now? “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet !!!”  The corruption that has been hidden for years will emerge.  All of us have done things we’re not proud of…and all of us need to be careful about being overly judgmental of those whose mistakes have ruined their lives and others.  The various authority figures that are in such trouble these days are just reaping their karma. Let’s define karma — for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.  The point, people, is to not get on the high horse and look down and those whose corruption has come to light, but let it be a reminder to OURSELVES to act correctly.  All of us are responsible for our own thoughts, words, and deeds. For example, I know bully women and abused men. Yes, this is not the usual pattern, but it does exist. Similarly, there are preachers who live in $20 million dollar mansions while exorting people to give to their church, but there are also preachers who live humbly and witness the Christ daily by living a clean and genuine life.  I personally know many good men who would never, ever, be cruel and abusive to women, children, and animals, etc.  Even with the current corruption in Congress, there are no doubt a few good men and women.

I have a client who has surrounded himself with many diverse therapists who specialize in different modalities. One is a channel medium. Suring a recent session, my client received the information that if we want gentler weather, then humanity must stop being so ferocious to each other. Makes perfect sense to me!  You, dear Readers, have far more power than you think. Use your power for generating positive momentum…the time is now!

In general, the earth signs are  going to have a really productive period in their lives. Uranus enters Taurus in 2018, too, with a retro back into Aries but then forward into Taurus for approximately 7 years.  These trines really help the earth signs accomplish their goals and projects, start new businesses and hobbies, finish their schooling and set up investments that can last a lifetime.  The water signs should do pretty well, too. Sextiles mean opportunities with some elbow grease required to make the best use of the transits’ energy.  You may have to kick yourself into gear, but the rewards for focus and discipline are well worth the effort.

The air and fire signs will have more challenges. Squares and inconjuncts. It will be important to cultivate a flexible viewpoint, to seek a deeper understanding of the situations and emotional dynamics in their lives, and accept that problems are how we learn and grow. For example, sometimes having a bad boss is the quickest way to learn how to be a good boss yourself. It will probably help to understand the laws and rules that govern your profession, your neighborhood, and your finances. For example, a Saturn square is NOT the time to fight with City Hall or your local Planning and Zoning Commission. If you plan to buy a property and Saturn is in your 4th, better check on all those rules BEFORE you buy, and only buy if you plan to be there a LONG time. Saturn symbolizes longevity. If you are dealing with building inspectors, again, follow all the rules — no shortcuts. Since Saturn rules old age, there are some interesting exceptions with property where seniors are concerned. I know someone who had an elderly parent and she got permission to put a 2nd home on her property, though temporary, for the life of her parent. Saturn transiting in the 4th can symbolize responsibility for elders.

Saturn transiting your 7th can mean you will need to take extra responsibility in your marriage or partnership. It’s interesting, though, Saturn in the 7th can often bond people closer together, too. I’ve seen it go either way — a break-up, a separation, a marriage, celebrating a milestone anniversary…

Saturn in the 10th can go either way — a difficult boss or problems on the job and a need to work extra hard, but also can bring the increased responsibilities that come with a promotion.

Saturn in your 1st — take good care of yourself, your health, adequate rest, etc. while you’re out there showing the world how capable and responsible you are. Saturn here can bring recognition and/or awards for your expertise — something you have studied and fine-tuned for years…

The Saturn -Pluto conjunction will be exact on January 12, 2020.  It is in effect the whole month of January, and really, allowing for orb, we could add a month or even two, on either side. Honestly, I don’t know what this transit means…an asteroid or a huge geophysical event? A very big polar vortex?  The voters so mad they kick out all the incumbents?  A war? A credit implosion?  I could see that last one, since the Cap energy in the US chart is in the 8th house of shared resources.  So…hope for the best while you plan for the worst.  For now, I intend to watch things unfold and see if I can get a clearer sense of this conjunction.  So far, it seems like all the power players will either hit rock bottom or slowly begin to transform and regenerate into something better. I do know one thing — no matter how positive an individual’s chart is, we all will be affected by such a powerful conjunction. It could be that a very serious crisis is necessary to overcome the weaknesses and limitations in our current society.  Jupiter will be in the earlier degrees of Capricorn. Maybe we will finally formulate the global agreements that are necessary to save the planet. Like no more plastic in the ocean, for example. Maybe it’s a new way of harnessing energy so there’s enough for everybody and no one has to fight over it….something like that could truly transform everyone’s lives.

I hope you read and study what other astrologers say about the Saturn-Pluto conjunction. I’m sure there will be a LOT written about this and the more points of view you read, the better. Yes, these are considered malefic planets but even this conjunction will have a positive potential expression. The pressure created around this conjunction can actually help bring thinking errors and negative attitudes to the surface so that people can release the beliefs and thought patterns that are holding them back from the fully integrated life that their hearts seek.  Forgiveness empowers the forgiver…Namaste, Jenae

OTTER SPACE ASTROLOGY — JUPITER IN SCORPIO — 10-10-2017  PART TWO

Back again, dear Friends and Readers… Let’s talk about the glorious possibilities of Jupiter’s transit through Scorpio.

As far as the world, further archeological exploration can discover some amazing things about the earth’s greatest mysteries.  These discoveries may be underwater since Scorpio is a water sign, but the use of science and technology and the NASA maps could mean there are great new discoveries buried in the earth, too. I love reading about people in England discovering ancient treasures from the Vikings, and  the beautiful tile work discovered consistently all over the MidEast and around the Mediterranean.  Depending on where you live, you could have great fun with a metal detector, or digging for rocks and gems.  For those who like shopping, you can use Jupiter to find hidden treasure at garage sales, junk stores, and antique stores, too.

Medicine will continue to make great discoveries. Jupiter expands whatever it touches. The medical research will be like a snowball, gaining traction and momentum. We are on the verge of huge breakthroughs to cure diseases and bring better health to people. There are a lot of ethical questions to be decided with the research into the very keys of life. Switch off the Alzheimers gene, or the cancer gene? Sounds pretty good.  Start tinkering with designer babies?  Not so good. I think it was Edgar Cayce who said when we started playing God, look out world! Expect the great debates on this, with people very divided on how far the scientists should be allowed to experiment.  Animal research is one example.  IS it fair to the animals? I see both sides of the argument.  At the very least, all animals in captivity should be treated kindly.

Jupiter in Scorpio will sextile Saturn in Capricorn. This is a great year to invest in your future. This could mean retirement accounts, or education, or simply trying to get some savings together. With finances, Scorpio is anything of yours that someone else has a hand in or an interest in. Scorpio rules inheritance, insurance, taxes and government money, big corporate money, and investments like mutual funds.  I’m not a big fan of mutual funds, especially the ones with a high front-end load. But the closed end funds and ETF’s have their place in a portfolio. Those are the ones you can buy and sell on the exchanges and not have to wait to the end of the day.  If you’re young enough, and have the time to weather the ups and downs, then the Vanguard funds are a good example of the lower fees and decent returns over time. The older you get the less you should have in risky investments, so for you that might mean this is a great year to start studying bonds. For those with young children, this Jupiter transit could mean you begin investing in a 529 plan, which is college money for your children or grandchildren. But investing begins after you have some emergency savings in liquid cash. And the way things are going, achieving that is harder than it used to be! Read Suzie Orman for practical financial advice.

If you have Jupiter transiting your 8th house this year, it will be easier to get credit or a loan. Just don’t go overboard. Loans have to be paid back!  A business partnership would be governed by both the 7th and the 8th houses.  In general, this could be a good year to start a business with a partner, but much would depend on the individual charts.

Looking at the long-term trends, tech, biotech, robotics, and cyber safety are going to be front and center for a while…

Maybe we should look at a few not so glorious possibilities….Jupiter transits in trine to Neptune. While this transit is good for medicine and healing, it’s not so good for taking action regarding the sea. We are killing the ocean as if we had no care for the generations to follow. I say this on a world level, not pointing the finger at any country in particular, though I dearly wish the USA would do more to protect the oceans and the fish and sea creatures. There are inventive young people who have won grants and they are building filters that suck the tiny particles of plastic out of the ocean. There’s already some in Baltimore harbor that collects the larger garbage. It’s a start, but considering how much toxic waste, sewage, garbage, etc. is dumped daily….there are floating islands, miles long, of nothing but garbage.  There’s a big dead zone in the Gulf where nothing lives. Watch the coral, folks, the coral reefs are  the canary in the coal mine of the ocean.  And, sadly, they are dying at an unprecedented rate.

I think what bothers me about this trine is the possibility that people just sit around and daydream and do nothing. Granted, daydreams are valuable, too, but sometimes it takes a square to get anything done.  Squares are challenging, but they can also represent huge accomplishments.  Watch and see what happens next summer and fall when Mars in Aquarius squares Jupiter. We’ll see… I hope enough people work together globally to demand that the clean-up begins. For example, why should ships be allowed to dump their garbage in the ocean?  Why can’t all ships have composting toilets?  There are small islands in the Pacific that are doing more to help the ocean than the bigger countries. They are miles ahead of us. They plant mangroves to protect against erosion. They limit fertilizers in certain places so the run off doesn’t feed the algae,  and algae smothers the coral. They prohibit commercial fishing in some areas but they still make the money with tourists and scuba diving. The reason Cuba’s reefs are in better shape is they don’t use the commercial fertilizers that are causing the nitrogen run-off.  TG!  The most hated company in the world is Monsanto. With good reason.

Social media is both a blessing and a curse. Jupiter in Scorpio could go either way. Bullying could increase and hurt more children, or enough people could stand up and stand together that schools and communities put new rules and laws in place to stop it.  Have you noticed the trend ever since Pluto entered Capricorn? That high profile people with skeletons in their closets are getting exposed?  It’s in the news almost every day — politicians, celebrities, athletes, corporate Ceo’s and Cfo’s.  Expect this to increase even more as Saturn joins Pluto and Jupiter in Scorpio makes research even easier. The truth will come out. IMO, all parents should keep an eye on what their kids are doing on the internet and on social media. I tell my young clients that they might want to be mayor at 40, so they better keep their lives clean now, because if not, it WILL come out.  The young don’t always have perspective; I’m not sure if they believe me.  Watch and see what happens in the next year or two. Meanwhile, we ordinary people should live our lives as if WE will be  tomorrow’s headlines.  I didn’t make that up; my Dad told me that many years ago.  It was good advice…keep it clean, folks, these are tricky times we live in…karma seems to be speeding up.

If you want to write in and tell me where Jupiter in Scorpio is transiting in your chart, post a message, and after you tell me what you think it might mean, then I’ll share my opinion, if you like. Even though I write these posts, I enjoy dialogue more than monologue. Till next time,  best wishes, Jenae…

WISH UPON A STAR — OTTERSPACE ASTROLOGY — May 21, 2016 FULL MOON

SO HOW IS THIS FIRE MONKEY YEAR TREATING YOU SO FAR? MARS RETROGRADE — 2016

Hello Dear Friends and Readers, Life has just been barreling by like a speeding train. In support of a friend,  another writer, I have decided to spend this weekend writing. Full Moon in Sag, and Gemini Sun can mean transportation and communication are stressed, so I’d  rather hang out with you guys than try to go anywhere.  Hopefully the Mercury retrograde won’t make posting glitchy…the phone went out once and the internet has been off and on for the last couple weeks. Typical.  Mercury moves fwd tomorrow !!!  I’m ready !!!

Today I want to talk about Mars retrograde. First, though, a discussion of this year in general…

My daughter’s Hawaiian teacher said the Year of the Fire Monkey would be fast-paced, with lots of opportunities, but glitchy, necessitating a Plan A, Plan B, and even and Plan C. Good for innovation, inventions, and inspiration. I think this is very accurate description of the loose but potent Mutable Grand Cross we will be experiencing now — starting TODAY and continuing through JUNE. We have Jupiter in Virgo, opposed by Neptune in Pisces, plus Saturn in Sag along with Mars in Sag, too.  This creates a T-square that pushes a lot of energy out the empty place — Gemini.  So now that the Sun, and Mercury soon, are transiting through Gemini, these placements turn into a Grand Cross.  The mutable signs are getting hit hard this year, but so is anyone with a bunch of mutable planets in their chart. I can always tell who will call me for readings based on the position of Saturn.  More mutable sign clients have called this year especially.  Mutable signs are flexible, sometimes a bit scattered, able to jump on sudden opportunities more easily than either fixed or cardinal signs.  Most people I’ve talked to this year are feeling hemmed in by obligations in multiple areas of life, with little or no free time.  They’ve had to stay focused, disciplined, and draw boundaries to protect themselves from people who would be energy vampires and distract them from their primary tasks.  That doesn’t sound fun, does it? But along with all that duty and responsibility (Saturn), many of them have been able to buy houses, get raises, get degrees or progress in their careers and/or goals that are very important to them.  Saturn is a lot about manifestation. So you see?  It’s not such a bad year after all.  Things can be pretty good, it’s just there’s a more serious tone…

To me, it’s like there’s 2 worlds running concurrently. The outer world is a mess — I wrote about that already — extremes everywhere.  Our personal worlds contain some really important growth and accomplishments…which brings me to Mars…

Mars is the symbol for action, physical energy, initiative, leadership, sports, fights, accidents, and heroism. Kind of a mixed bag and some people are better at handling their Mars energy than others.  Often when Mars conjoins the Ascendant we will get a brief fever or pull a muscle. Mars in your 4th? Clean house but guard against accidents by using proper tools, etc. Mars in your 7th ?— let your mate be the boss…it’s easier … Mars in your 10th ?— time to show your best initiative at work, maybe hussle to meet some deadlines.

I think Mars retrograde can be a blessing this year in particular because it gives us all a chance to look back over our plans and dreams and make corrections if necessary. Remember that PLAN B & C?  Now’s the time to implement them.  Mars went retro at 8 degrees Sag on 4-17-2016 and it goes all the way back to 23 degrees Scorpio, going direct on 6-29-2016. Mars re-enters Sag on 8-3-16 and conjoins transiting Saturn in the 4th week of August.  I’ll give you an example.  I’d been thinking  about how to reach people with certain information that is not widely available.  My friend the writer (www.growingupsuperheroes.com ) gave me a most valuable tip on how I could do it. Maximize my Mars energy.  She is very smart. And clever.  And we had this conversation during Mars retro.

Here’s another example. I had one Sag client that was oh so upset because the house she had her heart set on didn’t come through. I kept telling her to be patient, the Universe had something better in mind for her, and to keep looking.  And guess what?  She stayed flexible, adjusted her area to look just a bit, and she found an even better house.  Oh the joy !!!  Good thing it will close after Mercury is forward…

It’ so easy to have faith when everything is going well, and so very hard when the chips are down. But that’s the real test— faith when things aren’t going well — that leads to the best and brightest breakthroughs.  I truly believe that is our mutual task for the next month — to stay flexible and work patiently toward our goals and dreams, even if there are obstacles. And please remember to be a polite and observant pedestrian and driver.  The news is just full of the stress on transportation.  Be safe, dear friends, and I’ll try to write again soon…Namaste, Jenae

dgchart  Hello Dear Friends and Readers, Here is a real life chart from a woman who sent in her birth data. Jupiter will transit her 4th house of home and family until October 1, 2015, at which time it moves into her 5th house of creativity, fun, kids, etc. There is a very strong influence on health and wellness from now till mid-September as transiting Jupiter opposes Chiron and Mercury (Mercury rules Virgo) and then conjoins her North Node and Pluto in her 4th.  This is certainly the time to read and study about wellness and to improve her health. Not only her health but also that of others.  Jupiter in the 4th often expands the family.  One possibility would be family coming to visit her, or even moving into her home.  The underlying reason may have something to do with health — like taking care of someone short-term who has just had surgery. It’s a great transit to improve the functionality of her home, repairs, troubleshooting, etc. Repairs are best done between September 6 – 16th.  Virgo also rules small pets, so one more possibility would be vet care for a pet, or getting a new pet and taking it to the vet just for a check up.  From October 2015 to September 10, 2016, Jupiter in her 5th puts the emphasis on kids, letting the child in herself come out to play, creativity of all kinds including all the fabric arts, and in general allowing herself to try new activities. She is Pisces, so dancing, photography, fishing, decorating shoes — al these are astrologically appropriate :))

Looking at her whole chart, it’s pretty imperative spiritually that she does something to alleviate suffering in society.  Three 29* placements in a chart is unusual.  She might be a social worker, a chiropractor, or in the medical field. Of course, she could be a dance teacher, too :))  Dancing is very therapeutic and brings joy to alleviate suffering.  Maybe she’ll write in again and let us know :))  Here’s a couple of key transits that only come around once every 12 years:  Jupiter trine her Moon and sextile her Part of Fortune — fwd 2nd 1/2 November, retro end Feb.to early March, and fwd again middle 1/3 July 2016.  Looks like she gets 3 tries to assimilate some spiritual growth and also to finish her creative projects :))  Jupiter will oppose her Sun the 1st 1/3 of September 2016. Her personal time vs. time with friends and groups?  Travel with a group?  Escorting a grown kid to college?  Time management will be important all year… Best wishes, Jenae

OTTERSPACE ASTROLOGY —WISH UPON A STAR — JUPITER IN VIRGO — 8-11-2015 to 9-9-2016

Dear Friends and Readers. Jupiter transits through each sign in roughly one year, so Jupiter entering Virgo last occurred 12 years ago. There’s a lot of talented astrologers posting about Jupiter in Virgo. Some posts are quite technical. My preference is not to write for other astrologers but to write for everyday people who have some background and familiarity with astrology and would like to know more. I write these posts with teaching in mind. Planting seeds…

In 45 years I have never lost my passion for understanding people through astrology. I like helping people by bringing astrology down to earth and focusing on solutions to problems they may face, as well as alerting them to opportunities. Gee, folks, have you guessed? Yes, I have Virgo 1st house :)) (late Leo rising). Lately, I find myself with a keen desire for organizing shelves and drawers :))  Bringing order to chaos might be one theme in the coming year, but on all levels — physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. We’ll explore that shortly.

I noticed that some astrologers are charging money for their Jupiter in Virgo posts. I may do that next year when Jupiter enters my 2nd house. It will probably be $12 because I like the number 12 — 12 signs, 12 houses, etc. But this year I still want to shake things up a bit and not use the old format of going through each rising sign. One, I don’t have time. I’m very busy. Two, I want fresh growth, something new…

So here is my idea. I want a few people to write to me on the private reading page and give me complete birth data. Then we’ll put up the chart for all to see ( initials rather than names) and I will point out where the Jupiter opportunities are occurring in that chart. If I get swamped with requests, I may not choose your chart, but I can do some and we will all learn from them together. Learning should be fun !! I want to bring Jupiter in Virgo out of theory and into real life…

OK, if you know where the Virgo energy is in your chart, that’s where Jupiter will expand your opportunities. The only caveat is Jupiter is so expansionary that sometimes a bit of moderation is required to manifest the best luck and growth. In addition, this year is a little tricky for Mutable signs since Saturn will square Virgo from Sag, and Neptune in Pisces will oppose Virgo. This forms what is called a T-square and impels a lot of energy out the empty spot — Gemini. In fact, late May and June 2016 when the Sun, Mercury, and Venus transit through Gemini and create kind of a mutable grand cross. Time management and clear and careful communication will be critical. Mars retrogrades in Sag at 8 degrees and goes back to 23 degrees Scorpio 4-17-16 to 6-29-2016. Same time frame. Mercury is retro 4-28 to 5-22-2016 but in Taurus. Still, next spring is a time to be cautious regarding travel, communication, and important documents and/or contracts. Probably a good time to stay home and organize your filing cabinet as well as making copies of important papers !!!

Virgo is one sign associated with health, nutrition, cleanliness, small pets, gardening (Virgo = the harvest), accounting and bookkeeping, troubleshooting problems and finding brilliant solutions. Jupiter brings you opportunities in these areas. Check which house is Virgo in your chart for further clues and fine-tuning…

Virgo at its best means finding joy in small domestic tasks and chores, not making any difference between work and fun, finding joy through being of service to others, letting your work or hobbies be a labor of love, mastering the details and bringing all the small parts into a beautiful cohesive whole. Like assembling a jigsaw puzzle. I think Jupiter here will help us keep the big picture in mind, even while sorting through a bunch of details. IMO, if we can find the joy in doing the dishes, the floor, the laundry, cleaning the bathroom, etc. as a daily process without lust of result, if we make no difference between pulling weeds and harvesting our garden, if we find joy INSIDE ourselves no matter what we are doing — that is a successful life in the spiritual sense. All other earthly rewards follow and will manifest in your life as a result of that inner peace and happiness. On a more mundane level, this passion for excellence and order and organization may well manifest as a raise, a promotion, a new job, etc. There may also be opportunities for travel and/or further education at work that will be paid for by your employer.

I have noticed that men with either Mercury and Venus in Virgo or Venus and Mars in Virgo are excellent with building and woodworking. Must be that precision applied to the details :))…they do beautiful work.

Jupiter in Virgo offers us a chance to improve health and wellness through incorporating new information, possibly new research coming out about the food we eat. Food is the best first line of defense against illness. And there is more new research already about the benefits of exercise and movement vs. being sedentary.

Virgos are famous for spotting the flaws, and Jupiter here could exaggerate that tendency. Sometimes Virgos are so hard on themselves they get headaches. Jupiter could also be helpful to be more positive and optimistic about who you are, helping your inner thought patterns lighten up, help you be more TOLERANT of yourself and others. I think we have a choice here. New information and philosophies about our thinking and analyzing processes can help reprogram how we view ourselves. Besides, isn’t it more fun to be a Santa Claus instead of a sourpuss?

Most Virgos are wonderful about organizing stuff. Whether its on the mental or physical level, this is a great year to organize your home, your work environment, your hobbies and tools, your health — both mental and physical, and your outlook on life in general. One of my daughters found a great website a few years ago — www.flylady.com   It’s about making housework easier, being organized, and they sell great tools for household chores.

Time management will be more important for all of us this year, no matter where your Virgo energy is in your chart, and this is due to so many mutable sign transits. Be on time or even a bit early. Avoid gossip, rumor and innuendo. Let people tell their own news. Strive for the ideal but keep in mind that perfection does not exist on the material plane, so don’t kick yourself for honest mistakes. Strive for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism rather than harsh words that immediately put other people on the defensive. And you guys know me by now — don’t forget to grow a garden !!! Even if it’s just a few herb plants. That makes you a producer and not just a consumer. Virgos get a great sense of satisfaction from being productive :))… Blessings, Jenae

WISH UPON A STAR — SATURN IN SAG – PART 5 – FEBRUARY  5, 2015

Good Morning dear Friends and Readers,  I hope you are all doing well.  I got so sick from drinking green smoothies — it was the detox effect but I didn’t realize it until last night.  I’m good today.  Here I mention to you all that Sag is the sign most prone to binging, and what did I do?  I took things a bit too fast and paid the price.  Lesson learned.

OK, let’s continue with Saturn in Sag through the houses…if you have GEMINI RISING, then Saturn will be in your 7th house for the next 3 years or so.  I actually have a client with this position and I’m expecting her husband to land an important contract.  He’s been working in his business with the idea of building it up so she can retire from her other job and work with him.  They have solid long-term plans so this year should bring a breakthrough.  Saturn rewards long-term thinking…

Here’s some possibilities…I have seen people both marry and/or divorce when either Saturn OR Jupiter enters their 7th house.  The 7th is marriage, partnerships, any important one on one relationship, and can also include business partners.  The 7th is showing us parts of ourselves that we don’t easily acknowledge, like it’s easier to see it coming at us from outside rather than own it.  So you’ll need to be careful if your partner is bugging you, restricting you, breaking promises to you, or is just generally emotionally unavailable.  So before you get mad or emotionally off balance from a partner’s actions, it might help to remember that whatever is bugging you, if it wasn’t a part of YOU, you wouldn’t be able to see it in HIM or HER. My dear late Father used to say “If you want to change someone else, change yourself.”  Good advice.  If you enter into a partnership thinking you are  going to change that person, that is a thinking error on your part.  The only thing we have control of is our own attitudes and responses to events.  Saturn in the 7th can manifest as you taking extra responsibility in the relationship.  Your partner can be pre-occupied, worrying about older relatives or something at work, or even gone on business trips.

If you are single and wish for a partner, then Saturn is about being very definite about what you will or won’t accept in a partner.  Search your heart and your mind and be totally honest with yourself.  Make your wish list that reflects your aspiration and the qualities of character that you seek and stick to it.  Don’t settle. Write it down.  Saturn is also about commitment and bringing things into physical manifestation, so don’t believe the astrology books that say Saturn in the 7th is loneliness  or the lack of a partner. I have seen Saturn here represent an older partner and also the kind of partner who is very reliable and steady — like fine brandy, better with age :)).

Saturn in Sag in the 7th would be good for discussing long-term plans — travel, education, etc.  The square from Neptune in the 10th might be pointing out some kind of insecurity or instability in your partner’s job, or possibly someone at work who is manipulative and has ulterior motives.  Your partner might want to change jobs or even change careers.  Discussing the pros and cons of this could be very helpful.  Above all, Sag is about being honest with each other.  Lead by example.  Of course, the flip side of all this would be a situation where you discover your partner has NOT been honest with you, and this leads to a big crisis.  Hopefully, you will see the positive side of Saturn.  Those Fire Trines help a lot right now in the area of communication.

If you have CANCER RISING, then Saturn in Sag is transiting through your 6th house of health, work and service to others.  Let’s start with health.  Sag rules the hips and thighs; Saturn rules bones, joints and teeth.  Put these together and you MUST be very careful to protect your spine if you do any heavy lifting.  Sciatic nerve inflammation is NOT fun and can take awhile to calm down.  In general, do all you can to strengthen your bones, joints, and teeth.  Saturn here is encouraging you to take responsibility to ensure your good health, plus there’s a nice ability to attract the info you most need in order to do this.  Magazine articles, radio, tv, internet — all good possibilities to research health and nutrition…

I have seen Saturn in the 6th bring extra responsibility on the job, sometimes a promotion to a supervisory position.  Or you could have a supervisor who is either a wise mentor, or the flip side — a pain in the butt.  Be careful about  verbalizing this — “Oh, my boss is such a pain in the neck, or he’s such a thorn in my side” because you really don’t want to manifest this in your physical body.  It’s OK to think it, but then you have to neutralize it right afterwards by saying to yourself, of course working for him is a shortcut to my goal, or I’m here to learn and there’s something to learn from everyone, even if it’s by negative example, or I see the behavior and I don’t like it and I’m going to make sure I don’t act that way towards other people. ETC. ETC.

The 6th house is also who we hire.  This would be a good transit to join Angie’s list to check out references BEFORE you hire someone to work on your home, your body, your teeth, etc.  You could be asked to sit on the hiring board at work to interview prospective employees.  Going out of town on business trips is another possibility but also you could be hosting out of town workers that travel  to YOUR office.  The extra work could feel heavy but there is a strong possibility that the travelers will drop  tidbits of information on you that will be so helpful that all the work was worth it :)).

To me, the glory of the 6th house is the sincere desire to help others.  When you are in the proper 6th house groove, then chores and activities of daily life become a joy to do, without lust of result, just immersing yourself in the process.  I know a woman who is a 6th house Sun.  She is very thoughtful of others in many ways.  I have watched her for years.  When someone is in a crisis, or ill, or grieving, she brings food to them.  She makes it look effortless and never seeks to call attention to herself for the kind deed.  She has some Pisces planets also in the 6th.  It’s not that she tries to be secretive, it’s just that you would never know how MUCH she does for others.  Of course spiritually, her many kindness are duly observed on the other side and I imagine that when her time comes to pass over there will be a particularly bright new star in the heavens…

Whether you’re washing the dishes, folding the laundry, cleaning the house, strive to find joy in the process.  You will be much happier.  Saturn, you must remember, brings rewards for work already accomplished.  The 6th house is the Virgo house — the harvest.  The fire trines are helpful right now from your career and personal  money houses.  Saturn square transiting Neptune in Pisces in your 9th makes you very sensitive to the ethics and beliefs of others — who you are compatible  with and who you are not.  Pay attention and don’t make excuses for those who make you uncomfortable, ie. don’t try to talk yourself out of your feelings…

If you have LEO RISING, then this is quite the year from now through August 11th when Jupiter enters Virgo.  Jupiter in the 1st brings confidence and the courage to try new things.  Relationships with the young are highlighted.  I have seen Jupiter here expand the waistline, too.  It could be a new baby rather than over-eating J.  Travel, teaching and studying, writing, sharing information with others — all these are very appropriate.  You get a trine from Uranus in Aries in your 9th which is accenting the Jupiter activities even more.  Saturn in Sag is moving through your 5th house of children, letting the child in yourself come out to play, recreation, creativity, and romance.  Travel is indicated for learning and for pleasure now, not so much for business.  Don’t be surprised if you meet kindred spirits who live at a distance from you — either because you are travelling or they travel to YOUR area.

Other possibilities are creative writing, theatre, music, and dancing.  Since children and education are so prominent for you, perhaps there will be contact with foreign students?  It’s a very nice transit to teach those younger than yourself about tolerance for diversity.  Foreign music, foreign movies, foreign dance — all these are favored.  I know a mother and daughter with prominent Fire signs and both of them are dancing right now and having a great time doing it.  I have Leo rising — I dance at home by myself after midnight when all are sleeping , with headphones and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk”.  Great exercise J…I’m also considering writing a book about palmistry but I haven’t decided for sure yet.  Meanwhile I will be teaching more this year, travelling out of town for classes in astrology and palmistry.  I share this with you just to illustrate how the transits can work.  If you teach what you love, then that joy gets communicated to others and also you get to plant seeds of education with young people.  And who knows where that might lead?

I want to share something that is very important to me.  I firmly believe that all of us have an opportunity and a spiritual obligation to plant seeds of education with the young over the next 3 years.  It’s not what you teach, it’s the passion and joy and enthusiasm that gets communicated and then they see this is possible for them, too.  At the same time, have you noticed how many terrible things are happening to children all over the world?  A friend pointed this out to me last April with the Cardinal Grand Cross and she was and is absolutely right.  WE ARE ALL EACH OTHER’S TEACHERS.  The children are trying to wake us up.  On a soul level, these children are sacrificing to teach us to value life, to make changes on this earth to protect life instead of harm it. And so far we are failing miserably.  Each of us as individuals cannot fix the earth.  But we CAN start with where we are, with ourselves, our family, then our neighborhood and our community.  Please be alert for the opportunities to plant the seeds of kindness, protection, and respect.  All children need love and encouragement…

A person with Leo rising and all the trines could just fritter their time away indulgently.  It takes a square or two in a chart to get things done.  So let’s examine transiting Neptune, currently in square to Saturn in the 5th from Pisces in the 8th house.  The 8th is shared money, power, and intimacy.  With all the joy coming through classes, lessons, and creativity — this is NOT the time to break your budget to finance so many new activities that you leave yourself short for the basic expenses.  I know people with Leo rising who have received news in the last couple of months of a loss of income, real setbacks.  If this hasn’t happened to you, great, let’s hope it doesn’t.  Partners with financial obligations to you could fail to meet them.  I could see this square as an opportunity to choose the new activities that are most important to you and put the rest on hold until financial conditions stabilize.  This is not a good transit to loan money or possessions, but it’s more than that.  You need to be on guard against deception, mistakes, outright theft, etc.  So, reconcile your bank account and be alert for errors.  Lock your purse, your car, your home.  Make a firm rule that the children cannot have their friends over unless you are home, too.  Know and understand your insurance policies.  The 8th rules insurance.  This square is in effect now and again late in the year.  Neptune moves very slowly.  The positive side of Neptune  could be you make short term sacrifices in order to complete a big creative project.  The could be about how you spend your time, not just about money.  For example, movies are a passive activity.  It’s not that movies are bad — they teach us, inspire us, amuse us, thrill, us, etc.  but too many movies can be a way of avoiding life.  So you might want to ask yourself, how are you spending your time?

Well, folks, we’ll wrap this up with Part 6 next week.  Till then, Mercury goes direct  tomorrow, TG…Have some fun and enjoy the Sun coming back…Blessings, Jenae
