WISH UPON A STAR — PLUTO IN EARLY CAPRICORN — DIRECT MOTION 9-18-12

Dear Friends and Readers, It has come to my attention with the clients this week that people with early Capricorn emphasis in their natal chart are feeling the pressure that Pluto has been building up.  You people born just after Christmas, or with an early Capricorn Moon or Ascendant have been dealing with Pluto conjunctions all year.  Now Pluto will resume forward motion at 6 degrees Capricorn on 9-18-12.  Many of you would like to change jobs or even change careers.  This has not been a simple process, partly because the economy is weak but mostly because Pluto rules Scorpio and your decision is not as simple as just doing what you want to do as an individual.  The Scorpio flavor of this particular  Pluto conjunction means that you have to consider all the other people in your life.  The best decisions under this kind of transit allow all parties involved to benefit.  Win-win, rather than an adversarial situation.  Many of you have partners and dependents that need your help and need stability in their lives and this is complicating your decision.

On the other hand, Pluto is about transformation and regeneration.  The energy is slow, subtle, and manifests with an increasing sense of pressure.  Usually internal pressure, but it could be outside pressure like Saturn — depends on which houses are involved.  SO… you need to reinvent yourself and if you don’t do SOMETHING toward that aspiration, WILLINGLY,  the Universe will kick into high gear and force the issue.  Example— years ago I knew a nurse that didn’t like her job.  She kept saying she didn’t like her job but she wasn’t doing anything about it, and after a few months she broke her leg and that particular job was over.  It would be much better for you to take a step, even a small step, toward your goal.  That might mean online classes, volunteer work in the field that you really want, possibly cutting back on current  hours to free up time to take a second  part-time job, asking for the support of your family toward achieving your goal, etc.  There are many more possibilities. Again, how this conjunction might manifest depends on your personal chart.

The point is to realize that Pluto in forward motion soon means IT’S TIME !!!  IT’S TIME to take that first step so you don’t implode internally.  You don’t need health problems and the stress needs to be relieved.  Pluto is like the magma rising inside a volcano.  It won’t work to seethe with repressed anger, and then explode at the boss in a hissy fit like a petulant child. Capricorn gains success through acting maturely.  If you need a change in the current job, you need to use Pluto as STRATEGY, pointing out to the boss, or your family, or whoever — that the change you are proposing will benefit them as well as you.  Really, folks, with this kind of transit, you can become quite adept at strategy; if your motives are positive you will see positive results.  And you’ll have plenty of time to perfect these skills as Pluto moves quite slowly through Capricorn.  You may have other planets in Cap, too.

Just remember this is a once in a lifetime conjunction, time to begin your transformation process and best wishes to all of you !!! Blessings, Jenae  …and comments and suggestions are welcome…

WISH UPON A STAR — A READER ASKS  “WHEN WILL I GET A JOB?”

Hello to all you dear friends and readers…Today’s topic is on many peoples’ minds, at least here in the USA.  The economy is weak and there’s fear and uncertainty about the future.  The US chart does show some stress but we’ll leave that for another post and just focus on individuals for now.  I wish I could tell you that there’s a set formula, a couple of cut and dried rules that would indicate employment in your astrology chart; it’s not that simple.  Every chart is unique and depending on the current transits in your chart, there are ways you can maximize your chances of finding a job that suits you.

Since today is LABOR DAY, let’s start by looking at the houses that are the usual indicators of employment.  The 6th house, the natural Virgo house, is the house of employment, is who you hire and who hires you.  This house is also co-workers and people who prefer middle management — the right hand helper to the boss.  Remember in mythology, Mercury was the scribe, the one who relayed messages and paperwork to others.  The 10th house, the natural Capricorn house, is career and authority figures — the boss, the Board, government, etc.   The 8th house, the natural Scorpio house, is often prominent when people work for large companies, big corporations. Transits to these 3 houses can be indicators of employment or changes on the job, especially if you have natal planets in those houses. For example, transiting Jupiter can signal a new opportunity. It also helps to understand the local business climate by looking at the transits to the chart of the state where you live.  For example, in Oregon, which is Aquarius, the strength of the economy is in small businesses that employ 25 people or less. Oregon is friendly to innovators and entrepreneurs.  Washington State, which is Scorpio, has much more economic strength in large corporations; examples would be Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks.  An easy way to gauge the economy where you live is check out the roads and how well they are maintained.  California, a Virgo state, is an economic nightmare at the moment, and the roads show it. The current transits are quite stressful to the State chart, no easy solution THIS year…

OK, back to individuals.  First you check out your natal and whether you have birth planets in these houses.  That will show you whether or not working is a key component of your sense of identity.  Then you look at your transits and see if any planets are going through these houses at this time.  Also look at your Ascendant — how you present yourself to the outside world — a planet transiting over your Ascendant and into your 1st house is often a sign of a change for the better.

My reader has Pluto currently transiting in Capricorn through her 6th house of employment, opposing natal Cancer planets.  This is a process, not an event, Pluto is a symbol of her doing a lot of soul-searching — who she works for, how she works, why she works, etc.  She is service oriented.  Transiting Saturn was squaring her Sun from the 3rd — she grew more and more uncomfortable with the style of communication from bosses — a lack of good manners, respect, etc. on the part of bosses to their employees had made the work climate deteriorate.  Jupiter entered Gemini in her 11th and when it conjoined her Venus in July, a dear friend told her about a new job opportunity.  This job seeker understood the value of working with her astrology transits and she waited until Mercury had resumed forward motion before contacting the potential new employer.  She had her 1st interview when Mercury went over her Ascendant and it went very well.  Her first day at the new job was scheduled for  the day Venus conjoins her Ascendant.  She is not done with her Pluto in the 6th house transit and she continues to think deeply about her long-term goals, but for now the current employment crisis is solved. The square from transiting Pluto to transiting Uranus in her 9th may mean that ultimately she will return to school.

Here’s another example from long ago — my client had natal Sun/Venus/North Node conjunct in his 6th in Sag.  He was very bright, more of a generalist than a specialist, good with all kinds of communications work and computers.  He had been laid off his old job when Pluto began conjoining his 6th house planets.  Being unemployed was very upsetting to him; with such a strong emphasis in his natal chart on employment this was totally understandable, plus with Cancer rising he valued security.  He needed a job!!  As Pluto slowly moved deeper into his 6th he faced many different crises — family, his health, and a lot of frustration in trying to find the right fit. After many interviews, he finally got a job with an employer that was very picky about hiring anyone.  He now has the security and benefits he had been seeking and he found this new job was more mentally stimulating than the old one, which was also important to him.  He still works with computers/communications/ and delivering info but he is much happier and has more creative freedom, too.

Here’s one more recent example — my client was starting her 1st Saturn return — that’s natal Saturn transiting over its natal position — we all have this one at roughly age 28-30.  She was broke, she was scared, and she realized she had to make choices that would last for a long time.  This is the “time to grow up transit” and it’s a serious time when we narrow down what is most important to us and make commitments.  Usually an older person will appear in our life at this time — the Saturn guide or mentor.  My client got a temp job with older women who gave her good guidance and advice.  She did her work, studied hard to learn more, used the Saturn qualities of focus  and perseverance to pass tests that would qualify her for permanent employment.  And when that opening eventually appeared, she got the job.  She had earned it.

I have noticed that with Pluto in Capricorn, a lot of peoples’ lives have been turned upside down by the current employment crisis.  I would like to point out that there are always opportunities out there, if you can be flexible and willing to re-invent yourself and have a good work ethic, you WILL find a job.  The Divine energy is a lot stronger than a mere mundane crisis.  But for sure, these times are a real test of our faith…

In my state, I live near a small town which is NOT in North Dakota, there are more than 30 ads in the paper for truck drivers and many of them are national companies who will even pay for your training, which takes approximately 6 weeks and costs somewhere between 6 and 10k.  You mutable signs (Gemini/Virgo/Sag/Pisces) who are restless anyway might consider this kind of job where there is such a need and you can make good money.  Once you have gained experience, it’s very possible to end up with a company that is local so you can be home more.  An example of this would be UPS — the men and women work hard and the company is strict but they are treated well — good pay and benefits.

If you’re still young and looking for education as a step toward better employment, consider computer training and health care — might as well be in tune with the trends of the times.  Older people should try making a list of their skills and think about unusual talents and /or hobbies that they could use in a job situation.  Try writing down a description of your ideal job — this is a metaphysical technique and it works, too.  Visualize yourself contentedly working each night as you go to sleep, allowing your unconscious mind to help guide you to the right opportunities.  And remember please, that you have the prayers  of a kind stranger who asks every day for all people to find the security and the jobs they so much need…Blessings, Jenae

P.S. Canning and clients for the next few days, back soon, comments and suggestions welcomed…

WISH UPON A STAR — VENUS TRANSITS AND SHOPPING — PART TWO

Hello dear friends and readers, we were talking about Venus in the natal and preferences for shopping and/or gifts depending on where Venus is in your chart.  I’m also including observations gathered over many years…

Women with Venus in Libra — of all the signs, these women would appreciate gifts that symbolize and celebrate the romantic love they share with their mate.  Libra is the sign that rules China and Japan; some  of the feng shui symbols for love are pairs of objects — like 2 crystal candle-holders, or 2 pink glass swans.  Swans mate for life.  Venus in Libra women are more traditional — a nice dinner with candles and flowers , a CD of love songs, a pretty framed picture with loved ones — they treasure these things.  These women do not respond well to the caveman approach; they value good manners and a well-coordinated wardrobe.  They actually hurt if they see colors that don’t match well, like fingernails on a blackboard.  They love shopping for clothes or home décor.  They dress well and they’ll help you dress well, too, whether you’re male or female.  They appreciate clothes and jewelry as gifts, but not the trendy stuff. This is the friend to take with you when YOU go shopping.

Venus in Scorpio women like solving mysteries.  Besides mystery novels, some other ideas for gifts along the same lines are a metal detector, puzzle boxes, going to dig for rocks (thunder eggs, crystals, garnets, whatever — depends on where you live), a treasure hunt where you write out clues and at the end is a gift.  These women are more likely to explore sexuality than other signs ( another great mystery of life).  They like a bit of the jungle in their wardrobe and décor — animal prints, costumes, lingerie, etc.  They favor the darker jewel tones, especially cranberry.  Opals — a symbol of their hidden fire.  I had a friend with this position and years ago we went shopping for her and she said ,”How can you keep finding things I like so much?” And I said, “Because I’ve done your chart and I also grew up in the garment business.”  I picked pants in the darker earth tones, well-made but tailored, not fussy.  There was a touch of military trim on a jacket, and a beautiful cranberry blouse and another blouse with an animal print.  She was quite pleased.  Venus in Scorpio women like movies as gifts, too.  They’re pretty straightforward and direct and if they don’t like something they’ll tell you.  They’re very observant and will surprise you with the gift they give YOU, something you wanted or needed and thought nobody had noticed.

Venus in the fire signs like action and outdoor time.  Venus in Sag women are usually very current in their wardrobe; they favor a touch of the unexpected rather than a classic look. They prefer to be casual. The colors for Sag are royal blue and turquoise.  Sag is the sign of books and foreign travel; giving a Venus in Sag woman books and movies that enlarge her horizon are favored.  She is usually not too domestic but she might like a foreign cookbook as a gift.  They usually decorate their home in the world style, mixing art from around the world; they really like unique items from foreign countries as gifts.  Maybe you can’t take her to Paris, but you could certainly plan a local trip as a surprise.  Sag people absolutely need driving to clear their minds.  A gift for her car would also be appreciated — like a special water bottle without the bad plastic, or a cd of a book, or even a set of maps.  Again, if you are giving her jewelry, look for the foreign items, like silver from Bali, or crystals or special glass beads from the  Czech Republic. Sports gifts are nice, too…depends on if she plays tennis, golf, volleyball, etc.

Venus in Capricorn is as formal as Sag is casual.  They want to impress and be socially correct for the occasion.  Cap is the sign ruling career, so gifts that enhance their work wardrobe are appreciated.  It’s important to remember that Venus in Capricorn women are earthy, they are not cold at all, just reserved until they’re home and the door is locked and the lights are down J…they favor décor that shows wealth and stability.  Old money rather than nouveau riche…so choose gifts that blend history with current trends in décor.  They like metals and they like the earth element — wood, rock, glass, brick, leather, etc.  When Capricorn Venus women go shopping, they like sales at high-end stores.  They would rather have one expensive item that lasts for years, whether it is their robe, their sofa, their winter coat, their bedding, their jewels, etc.  Generally, they are not impulsive shoppers, they like to have a well thought out plan before they leave the house.  She’s a woman who men could go shopping with and feel pretty comfortable.  IF this is your loved one, encourage her to experiment a bit with adding some new colors to her wardrobe.  She favors all the formal colors — black, navy, charcoal, browns — sometimes she needs a little help letting the child in her come out to play.  These women often have to grow up and take on a lot of responsibility at a young age.  At 35 they appear to stop aging and by 50 they look younger than everyone else.  In general, Caps have a much happier 2nd half of life compared to the 1st half.

Aquarian Venus women — you just never know what to expect.  Like opening up Pandora’s Box, every one of them that I have known is different.  Most of them prefer casual clothes.  Purple and shiny things appeal.  This is my sign and my house used to be filled with rainbows from cut crystals hanging in the windows. The others I have known are definitely not afraid of bright colors and they have very eclectic taste.  As far as getting them gifts, they like unusual things and what that means you’ll just have to figure out because there is no set pattern. In general, modern gadgets, items for the home that are good for entertaining friends like platters or trays, the latest most interesting novel or inspiring biography.  Venus in Aquarius women like inspirational items, things that illustrate a sense of community, and metaphysical books/art/music.  Jewelry, yes, but don’t try to buy them clothes; they like to find their own.  Here’s couple of ideas for you — those kits that let women put bling on stuff, it’s a kit that contains  various jewels, beads, sequins, and the gadget or glue to make them stick.  If you want to be romantic with them, try purple flowers, but a stalk of broccoli flowers will amuse them, too, and that counts a lot with Venus in Aquarius — that element of surprise and innovation will please them.

Speaking personally, I have asked my family for manure for Mother’s Day for years.  Do they not believe me?  I’m a gardener and grow my own flowers and vegetables.  If I didn’t mean it, I wouldn’t ask for it — a gift card for manure would thrill me.  Maybe it’s my Taurus Moon — moo, moo 🙂 …

Ah, we come to Pisces, the last sign in the zodiac.  Venus in Pisces women have an aura of mystery.  One thing I’ve noticed about them even if they aren’t actually beauticians, they are so good at implementing the latest trends with hair, nails, and make-up.  They are very versatile and adaptable.  By far, the most defining characteristic of this woman is her passion for shoes. MANY, MANY pairs of shoes.  After all, Pisces rules the feet.  That being said, a wonderful gift to give her is shoes, a gift card for shoes, items used to decorate shoes, or a pedicure.  They even have jewels now that go on toe nails or rings for toes.  The underwater, fishy colors usually appeal most to her — soft blues and greens, lavender, silvery and iridescent tones like fish scales.  Bath items are also great gifts, as are nature pictures and trips to the coast.   Pisces is one of the Water signs.  One of the biggest challenges for this position is learning to be comfortable with ambivalence.  If this woman feels outside pressure to make a decision, she will often change her mind later.  This can be somewhat disconcerting to those who love her; best to give her time and space to make her own decisions when possible.  She loves  nature, the sea, and animals.  I knew a Venus in Pisces woman many years ago and she was always into some kind of new artistic hobby and with her kids she always had small pets and many different kinds, too.  It was fun for her children and educational, too.

Hope you all enjoyed this one…and have a happy holiday tomorrow…Blessings, Jenae
