URANUS IN ARIES — THAT RESTLESS, REBELLIOUS, INNOVATIVE PLANET OF THE UNEXPECTED

Dear Friends and Readers,  there have been a number of good articles about the many transiting squares between Uranus and Pluto this year and for the next couple years.  In short, we see the rebellious energy of Uranus contending with the old established structures of society that are slowly dying and need to be regenerated — symbolized by Pluto.  This is happening all over the world.  People want and need more freedom.  And while I do have the experience to analyse this process in terms of the world, I feel  my knowledge and gifts are better focused on helping individuals understand how to use their natal charts to improve their lives.  I believe evolution happens one human heart at a time…

However, I think it will prove helpful to my US readers to take a look at the US chart and understand why we are here at this place and time…

Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius.  The US Moon is in Aquarius.  The Moon in the natural wheel of the zodiac is the ruler of Cancer.  The US Sun is in Cancer.  Our Founding Fathers rebelled against the established order and that is how our country was born.  This is  our foundation and it influences the culture and ideas of every individual living here.  Given enough freedom, we can invent our way out of the current economic crisis.  Uranus rules inventions and progressive ideas that save the people, large segments of society,  time/money/labor/energy.  Uranus rules aviation, the space program, computers and technology.  This is what gives me hope in our current crisis — we are a clever and inventive people who are not afraid of new ideas.  The social media that makes this blog possible is a part of the Uranus energy, too.

Uranus takes 84 years to transit around the wheel of the chart, roughly 7 years through each sign and house.  Uranus is currently in Aries and the nature of Aries is compatible with Uranus because Aries has a need to try new things and embrace challenge.  They get bored with the same old routine.  They’ll stir up fights and debates just to get their adrenaline going.  Every Aries woman I know re-arranges her living room furniture at least every 6 months and most of them are quite handy with tools and building stuff.

Uranus will be in Aries from  5/29/2010 through 3/7/2019, though mid-May through early November of 2018 is the first entry into Taurus.  (Uranus retrogrades back into Aries early November through early March 2019.)

So…let’s take a look at the US chart.  I posted it with today’s transits (9-17-2012) on the outside of the wheel. This week’s events feature another transiting Uranus/Pluto square; I already wrote about that on my Facebook page (Otter Space Astrology) — THIS article will focus on Uranus and then we’ll move on to look at Uranus in Aries in the houses in Part Two.  By the way, astrologers love to debate which chart to use for the US.  There ARE variations based on time and house systems.  I like to keep things simple; I have chosen the most commonly agreed upon chart  with the Gemini rising.  Just wanted you to know…

Take a look at the US 2nd house with Venus/Jupiter/Sun in a rolling conjunction.  We have been a lucky nation; in our recent history we have had over 40 years of the most favorable crop weather in recorded history. The 2 most beneficial planets and remember — in Cancer that would be food.  We are one of the breadbasket nations.  Canada, for example is also a Cancer nation.  Our land is the foundation of wealth…farmland, forests, wetlands, lakes, etc. — these are under major stress right now.   Transiting Uranus is squaring the US Cancer planets, last year, this year, next year, too.  Now we are not so lucky.  Pluto has been opposing the US Cancer planets from the 8th house.  I believe this is the symbol for the national debt and all the problems with the US economy in  general , with the additional complications of all the financial problems in other countries.  We are all entwined — 8th house — shared money, shared power, etc.  Please note that Pluto is slowly moving into opposition to the US Sun and VERY SLOWLY approaching the 1st conjunction with the natal Pluto in the early 2020’s. Are we headed for even more crisis?  It’s very possible with these transits.  But it’s also important to remember that one of the symbols for Pluto and the 8th house is the phoenix rising from the ashes…a rebirth of this magnitude takes time…

It’s somewhat strange to write this post about Uranus and find my thoughts going each time to include Pluto.  So, I guess that’s the information I’m supposed to share…

Anyway, these squares to the US 2nd house remind us to be conservative with our financial planning, be self-sufficient where possible since our crop weather is not as favorable as before.  The whole configuration forms a T Square which pushes energy out the US 5th house — do your best to avoid hidden agendas — keep it clean, keep it honest — setting  a good example for the children in our lives.  Also the 5th is creativity —- imagine creative solutions to problems and your solutions just might benefit many people and enrich you in the process. 🙂

In spite of these transiting squares, Uranus is sextile the US Ascendant and natal Uranus, and trine the North Node.  Progressive ideals and ideas and inventions are assimilated much more quickly these days thanks to the social networks and computers and phones.  New tools, new and improved forms of transportation and communication are coming.  This is already happening with childrens’ education, but there’s more to come.  And I expect we’ll see more inventions to help children with special health needs, too.  There are already computers that can read for blind people.  Truly amazing things are in the pipeline and in Part 2 we’ll take a look at how that can help you as an individual.

Back in a few days, feel free to comment…Blessings, Jenae

FLY ON THE WALL — A PEEK AT A PRIVATE READING — PART ONE

“Good morning, Dan, we’re recording this session so you’ll have a record of it.  Today is September 14, 2012 and we’re looking at your chart.  The three most important points in any chart are the Sun, the Moon, and the Ascendant or rising sign.  The Sun shows the aspiration of our soul in this life, who we are when we’re being our best selves and letting the light shine through.  Your Sun is in Cancer, the sign of home and family, and it’s in your 6th house of health/work/service to others, but pretty close to the cusp of your 7th house of marriage.  Looks like your home and family are pretty important to you.”

“That’s correct, I’ve lived in the same home for 30 years and my kids live fairly close by except for one.”

“Dan, the Moon is the ruler of Cancer and your Moon is in Sagittarius in your 11th house of friends and groups.  Usually with the Moon in Sag, there’s a lot of travel involved.  Often people with this position lived the military life as a child, a lot of moving around.  Sag is the sign most associated with foreign contacts.  Looks like you’ve been a lot of places, and even though you were born in a small town, you don’t have a small town mind — many friends from different places, different backgrounds, different races, religions, etc.”

“That’s very interesting, Jenae.  I spent 10 years in the Navy flying planes all over the world.  I’ve been to many, many foreign countries. I’m not a prejudiced person; I have friends from all races.”

“Cancer as a sign rules the stomach and food.  With your Moon is Sag I would think you would like foreign food?”

“Yes!! I’ve eaten some strange things in my life, just for the experience!!”

“Well, I can sure see the aviation — you have Aquarius rising. Not only that, but the ruler, Uranus, is exactly conjunct Venus in Gemini!  I bet machines talk to you :)…  You have a real good intuition about mechanical things, technology, electronics and good manual dexterity to work on these things. There’s such an interesting interchange between all these planets.  Your Moon is in the 11th, in the natural Aquarian house…how about teaching groups?  Ever done any of that?  The Moon in our charts shows the legacy that we bring with us from the past…you can look at it as biological heredity, or spiritual heredity as in past lives, or both.  I like to think of the Moon as a treasure chest we can dip into at will, to me it can symbolize talents we bring with us.  Are you a teacher? Do you come from a family of teachers?

“Yes, Jenae,  I enjoy machinery and I especially enjoy the challenge of making things work properly.  No teachers  in my family that I’m aware of.  I’m not a teacher in the formal sense, like in a classroom, but I DO enjoy learning new things and have taken many classes myself, and I have trained many people, both individuals and groups, in my life. I was a fire chief for years after I got out of the service.”

“Well that would fit with groups of people working for the common good — the 11th house rules all charitable, fraternal groups, labor groups and organizations.  And that theme is underlined by your Aquarius rising.  The Ascendant is the mask of personality worn over the soul, the “You” that other people see.  I always like to use Magnum P.I. as a good example of male Aquarian energy.  Actually, Tom Selleck IS an Aquarian and they wrote that part true to form — analytical rather than emotional, intuitive, somewhat rebellious and/or eccentric, fanatically loyal to his friends, etc.  Since your Sun is in Cancer I’d say you are probably very loyal and protective of your family and when the kids were little, they couldn’t get away with stuff without you finding out intuitively.  Is that correct?”

“Yes, I always knew when they were up to something…but they were all pretty good kids. I felt the same protectiveness and loyalty to my fire crews, too.”

“Dan, I have to tell you, the way your chart sets up, that Moon in Sag could cause some problems with your digestion.  There’s a tendency to go overboard if you like a food or a drink a lot.  Sag is ruled by Jupiter which is an expansionary energy;  it’s the sign most associated with overdoing things.  In addition you have Saturn in Cancer.  It’s not conjunct your Sun but it IS in your 6th house of health.  Saturn can show a weak point in our chart that needs to be strengthened and Cancer rules the stomach. In addition to that placement, you have your chart ruler in the 4th which IS the natural Cancer house, and your Moon is in wide opposition to that Venus-Uranus conjunction in the 4th.  I’ve seen a lot of Gemini people with allergies but usually it’s airborne stuff like pollen or dander.  In your chart, there would be more emphasis on the things you ingest.  Tell me about your health, Dan.”

“Well, I DO have food allergies and this was from the time I was born. My Mother told me they couldn’t find any kind of milk or formula that I could tolerate, she told me I was raised on chicken broth.  I’m in good health, but there are certain foods  I cannot eat and I am also allergic to other things — Neosporin, latex, any kind of rubber.  Before I knew what it was, my hands used to get blisters and then crack and bleed and it was a long healing process each time this happened.  I didn’t find out about those last three until I was over 40.  I spent years eating foods my body was allergic to and I didn’t know what was wrong since the symptoms were more indicative of a contact allergen.  I just figured I’d touched too many chemicals doing field research on various farms.  And I’ve always had occasional indigestion, but in spite of all of this, I am very healthy.”

“Dan, that sounds very difficult.  Uranus in Gemini  in the 4th, Gemini rules the hands and arms.  You know, every chart I do, I learn something, too.  Your symptoms were in your hands.  I’ll remember that for the future. Did ANYTHING positive happen in your life as a result of this situation?  Venus is a beneficial planet and it’s in Gemini in your 4th, too…”

“Actually, Jenae, the blisters went up my arms, too, up almost to the elbows.  Did anything good happen?  Well, when I got the results of the tests and learned what NOT to do or eat, I guess that was a positive…oh, I did start studying more about health and nutrition.”

“Bingo !!! That was the hidden blessing in the long ordeal you endured. With Saturn in your 6th house of health, that makes perfect sense !!  Hands AND arms…I’ll have to remember that…”

VENUS IN LEO — SEPTEMBER 7th  to OCTOBER 4th 2012

Dear Friends and Readers, now that Venus is in Leo it’s time to bring  some creativity, art, and beauty into our lives.  We’re all still taking care of health and chores with Sun and Mercury in Virgo right now; Venus is reminding us to add in some play time.  Depending on which house in YOUR chart,  Venus currently transiting through Leo until 10/4/12 can show us which area of life is accented this month.   Venus is the planet that symbolizes love, art, beauty, affection, social life, and money in the sense of attracting what you need.  I’ve covered shopping in an earlier post;  today we’ll take a look at art and beauty.

If Venus is currently in your first house, it’s the right time for personal beautification.  By all means get your hair done, and go for a mani or a pedi, a facial, a massage — whatever appeals to you.  The 1st house is how we present ourselves to the outside world.  Looking your best and acting graciously is very appropriate.

If Venus is transiting your 2nd house, it’s a great time to re-furbish your possessions.  Now’s the time to get that chair recovered or your dresser refinished.  If you have the skills to do these things yourself, even better, since this house rules hobbies that often turn into part-time jobs.  These days they call it re-purposing.  The point is to beautify your stuff;  with the current Virgo transits, this could also mean reorganizing cupboards and/or shelves to show the beauty of the possessions you have.

If Venus is moving through your 3rd house, it’s a great time to wash and polish your car, and really do it right — vacumn  and wash the inside, too. Decorate your mailbox if you like. Make something pretty to keep your magazines in.  Students can make their notebooks and book bags beautiful.  Another good house for a manicure :)…

Venus in your 4th — the 4th represents your home in general and your kitchen in particular.  A wonderful time to make your kitchen beautiful and welcoming.  If other transits in your chart concur, this Venus transit could symbolize remodeling going on in your home.  It could also be something simpler like your child wants to paint their room and get a different bedspread.  A very positive time to nuture your family and help them express their artistic talents. IF you’re selling, this is a great transit for an open house.

If Venus is currently in your 5th, it’s time for YOU to be creative as well as helping children express and beautify themselves.  This IS the natural Leo house, so there’s quite an emphasis on doing things that are playful and fun and sometimes quite spontaneous.   Maybe this is the time you finally turn your little one loose in the bathtub with the finger paints :)…Dads might want to engage their children in building a playhouse or a fort  in the yard.  This is a fabulous transit to gather stuff and make costumes for Halloween.

IF Venus is transiting through your 6th, there’s a real accent on beautifying your work environment.  You might have to clean and organize first; just don’t forget to add some fun into the process, too.  Add artwork, or plants, or showpiece items that attract attention to your business.  IF you’re in retail, this could mean decorating the windows. Depending on your personal chart, this transit could symbolize an appropriate time for cosmetic surgery or dental, too.  Venus in the 6th is usually pretty good for relationships with clients and co-workers. It’s also a great transit to update your business card and add something unique, special, and beautiful to it.  My Dad always had a fascination with logos.  I favor bling :)…

If Venus is moving through your 7th house, there’s a lot of harmony with partners.  A great transit to work together on beautification projects like decorating for a party.  A fabulous time to take your sweetie shopping and pick out clothes for them, subject to their approval of course…  There’s a strong social flavor to this particular Venus in Leo in the 7th transit; you could be planning or helping arrange a wedding or an anniversary party.  This is such a nice transit for making personalized gifts and it gives you and your partner a chance to be artistic together.

When Venus transits through the 8th, that playful sense of affection can turn more sultry and steamy … this is the house that rules sexuality.   It is also important to spot check yourself if there are some competition issues brewing under the surface.  Make every effort to resolve any conflicts with partners harmoniously — Venus here will help you.  This is the best transit to clean and beautify your bedroom. If you are lonely and want a partner to love, there’s an old metaphysical technique that can help — arrange your bedroom, closet, bathroom cabinet, etc. to make room for a partner’s stuff. Empty one side of the closet, half the bathroom cabinet, etc.  If you are female, pass on stuff in your bedroom that is too girly — like if the walls are pink consider painting them neutral and add a picture of the desert at dawn instead.  If you are male, soften your bedroom to make in more comfortable for a female. That may mean moving the gym equipment out of the room and adding some curtains if all you have is window blinds.

Venus in the 9th is so nice for receiving company from a distance.  You may also travel yourself.  Consider beautifying a room in your home that may be a stand-alone guest room, or a room that serves several purposes.  Venus in the 9th is great for buying coffee table books that are show stoppers — I remember once at someone’s house, they had one of underwater pictures — really stunning — couldn’t put it down.  This transit is wonderful for adding foreign pieces to your home, or learning foreign or ethnic art techniques to have some fun.  Venus here would be the best transit to take an art class.

When Venus moves through your 10th house, that is the time to shine in career.  Look your best, act your best, conduct your life as if it will be tomorrow’s newspaper headline.  Venus here is good for art and beauty to helps you achieve your career goals.  Maybe it’s a new suit or a distinctive tie, maybe it’s a long-awaited promotion.  Beautify yourself and your work environment.  If YOU are the boss, please consider using this transit to host an employees’ appreciation day with some kind of small gifts or if this fits your situation — use this transit to announce improvements scheduled for the work environment.  Maybe it’s air-conditioning that will be installed, or better work chairs, even a new coffee pot or frig in the back room — depends on your situation — but improvements announced at this time will greatly improve morale.  I have a current client with this position and she is part of a group hosting a big conference  and she’ll be doing some speaking, too.  The Leo energy likes  to host rather than be the guest.

Venus transiting through the 11th house is another time to gather in a group for fun, though with the 11th there is usually a purpose that lasts beyond the moment.  This is another “take a class, teach a class” position, or something like a writers’ club or a book club.  Another possibility is you help a  friend beautify HER home or HER life in some way.  Venus in Leo as a NATAL position, requires sunlight and the ability to entertain at home — patios and BBQ’s.  If your transiting Venus is in this house, you may host a party for a friend or a group and this time of year favors an outdoor gathering.  Another possibility is a group of friends get together and hold a big yard sale — fun but the money goes toward a goal, either personal goals or a group goal like a fundraiser.  An example would be helping a child who is ill…

Venus in Leo moving through your 12th house — the perfect time to go to a spa or a yoga retreat, and this position is another one that could indicate cosmetic surgery.  The 12th rules places of refuge and/or confinement…hospitals are one meaning.  The romantic side of Leo would be expressed in this house by you and your sweetheart going somewhere together that is a quiet place, beautiful, inspiring — could be camping or even a luxurious hotel — there are famous places with little heart-shaped swimming pools for each room and/or cabin.  Leo rules the heart.  On a deeper level, this transit is about being whole-hearted, pure of heart, no hidden agendas.  SO…maybe you take flowers to someone in hospital, or maybe you set up a meditation room in your home and add touches of beauty to inspire you, maybe you spend time alone painting pictures or working with the fire arts.  Sometime in the future, I’ll post more about the 12th house…

SO there you have it, dear readers, and I hope my ideas have served as a jumping off point for your own creativity and imagination.  Blessings, Jenae

PS…comments and suggestions are welcome…
