MERCURY RETROGRADE TRANSIT — 11-6 —11-26-2012

Good Morning, dear Friends and Readers, we are still feeling the effects of the Full Moon and the Mars-Jupiter opposition.  Now to complicate matters more, Mercury will go retro on 11-6-12, a transit that happens approximately 3 times each year for 3 weeks at a time.  For those of you who aren’t yet familiar with this, start by remembering that Mercury in the natural zodiac is the ruler of both Gemini and Virgo.  So the areas in general would be communication, transportation, paperwork, electricity.  Unfortunately, we see these areas very stressed in our country for millions of people right now.  The transits are suggesting things will take a while to straighten out.  These must be exceptional times, to affect so many on such a large scale…

Let’s begin by defining a NORMAL Mercury retrograde transit.  Meetings often will be cancelled and rescheduled.  The plane doesn’t necessarily crash but your luggage could go astray.  It’s important to back up your computer more often.  Clear communication can be elusive.  Appliances can break.  Construction and/or road closures can delay travel, best to allow extra time.  Especially THIS year at Thanksgiving.  Paperwork can get lost, have mistakes, have to be re-written.

Mercury retrograde is NOT a favorable time to move forward on new projects, sign contracts, meet new people, make major purchases, close on real estate or begin a groundbreaking, schedule medical appointments  or take new medicines  — you get the picture.  It’s not ideal for travel either but we can usually muddle through.  Mercury retro IS favorable for going over the past, making corrections, making plans and researching them — just don’t implement until Mercury is forward.  It can be a great time to connect with old friends or find people you knew but lost contact.  When it’s love and people meet under a Mercury retro, they either recognize each other on a soul level and take up where they left off, OR people meet and change their mind about the relationship  when Mercury moves forward.  Same thing with Venus, by the way.

One time I took my car to the mechanic 3 times and finally on the retro they figured it out and fixed it!!  It’s a good transit to clear out your junk drawer, organize your closet, your filing cabinet, etc.  It’s amazing what you can find on a Mercury retro — things you thought were lost can return to you.  One time I found a ring in my garden that I had lost a year or more before !!

OK, let’s look at THIS particular Mercury transit.  It begins at 4 degrees Sag and heads backwards to 18 degrees Scorpio, going direct on 11-26 at 2:51 PST.  By mid-December it’s back to the same place in Sag where it was on 11-6.  Those of you with your Sun or other planets within these degrees may notice that you have the same discussion or meetings  3 times before decisions or results are achieved.  Great for writing and editing, though somewhat disconcerting for other paperwork.  Still, be on the lookout for mistakes.  SO much depends on your individual charts…for example, Gemini-Taurus will have Mercury opposing, putting more emphasis on relationships and possibly financial paperwork.  Pisces-Aquarius and Virgo-Leo will be taking squares, challenging you to adjust your STYLE of communication and seek consensus for best results.  Looking at  current events, those of you on the EAST COAST and further west, too, will have to dot every “I” and cross every “t” with all the paperwork , applications, and forms required for you to get the help you need after the storm.  Scorpio rules insurance.  In order to avoid delays and/or misunderstandings, please doublecheck everything twice before you sign and be SURE to read the fine print and ask questions, ask for explanations if things aren’t clear to you.  Start now with a pad of paper and make lists of items damaged, or a list of repairs needed, or a to-do list of who you will need to contact.  Hopefully, you already had a video of your house and furnishings and took it with you if you had to evacuate.  Most people have that these days for insurance purposes.  Sag rules churches.  It wouldn’t hurt a bit to write down a wish list of things you need.  Kindness and the generosity of strangers tend to manifest when big disasters occur.  Brotherhood and a sense of community can actually be strengthened…

Since Mercury rules electricity, things could take longer to get up and running with this retrograde.  For the rest of us, we can learn from the national experience and prepare ourselves for winter.  Use Mercury to go over your home emergency list.  Pretend you’re a pioneer in historical times.  Strive for self-sufficiency with a modern twist — batteries and flashlights in addition to candles.  Food, water, space blanket, BBQ or woodstove for cooking, etc.  A big box of baby wipes comes in pretty handy when there’s not much water. 🙂

I heard one state saying 7 to 10 days without electricity.  Looking at these transits, I would guess things could even take a little longer.  Who knows what they’ll do about the election.  Maybe they should wait until Mercury goes forward !!! 🙂

Since we are now in the sign of Scorpio, I think I’ll begin working on the Saturn in Scorp transit.  Could take awhile…till then, Blessings, Jenae

WISH UPON A STAR — VENUS IN LIBRA — OCTOBER 28 — NOVEMBER 22, 2012

Back again, dear Friends and Readers,  let’s take a look at Venus in Libra this year.  Those of you born in Libra or with Libra Ascendant may find this transit a welcome bit of sweetness in your lives after 3 grueling years of Saturn transiting through Libra.  The whole time Saturn was in Libra, more of my clients were in cardinal signs than not.  Now that Saturn is in Scorpio, I’m getting more fixed sign clients again.  I expected it.  My cardinal sign clients are stronger, wiser, more resilient as a result of Saturn and now they deserve a treat.  Venus in Libra is also in harmony with the other Air signs, Gemini and Aquarius.  SO Venus in Libra for you three signs will offer lots of possibilities for social life, people who are fun and interesting to talk to, and more affection and beauty in your lives.  If you’re a Libra or have Libra rising, this is a great time to consider a make-over.  You could change your bedroom, add new colors to your wardrobe, change your hair or make-up.  Libras have a very good sense of color and they know how to harmonize a room as well as a  relationship.  Depending on your individual chart, it could be love that comes to you.  At the very least you should be the recipient of kindness, affection, and little gifts.  Receive those compliments graciously, you deserve them 🙂  …

Those of you who are Capricorn, Cancer, or have these signs rising may have to meet partners in the middle when it comes to choices in art, beauty, cultural activities and social life.  Venus in Libra squares are not necessarily negative, but they do suggest that you be aware of different preferences between yourself and partners and/or friends.  These difference become even more prominent if you are Aries or have Aries rising.  The opposition from Venus is a chance to get to know your partner even better but you will have to stay open-minded to do so.  The opposition is a symbol for gaining awareness through relationships.  The worst  way for you cardinal signs to play this Venus transit is to overspend to try and impress someone.  Keep it simple…

Venus in Libra is kind, polite, socially adept, and very willing to smooth the path of near and dear ones.  Venus in Libra is a wonderful time to bring the small gestures of love into your life — candles, pretty flowers on the table, a beautiful card sent to someone who needs a bit of cheering up, buying something artistic to improve your home, etc.  It’s a good month to improve your wardrobe but major shopping is under some stressful transits this time so it would be better to buy one or two classic things  and call it done for now.  On November 3rd, Venus squares Pluto in Capricorn.  Those of you who are taking direct hits with this square could find that work obligations interfere with your love life or social plans.  On a general level, this can be a sign of manipulation.  Could be some kind of subtle pressure at work.  Venus in Libra is very sensitive to what is fair and just.  A person could use this transit to confront injustice that has become intolerable.  In general, all of us should avoid trying to orchestrate life 11-2 through 11-4; much better to go with the flow — if you’re running into opposition, there’s a reason for it.  Step back and re-examine the situation.

November 9th, Venus trines Jupiter.  This is one of the lucky transits in astrology.  11-8 to 11-10 is fine for buying a lotto ticket, socializing, nailing down a meeting  or interview with someone who has been inaccessible up to this point.  Remember that Mercury is retro 11-6 through 11-26 — this period is great for going over the past, looking up old friends, doing additional research but not necessarily moving forward with any NEW projects.  I have met with new people when Mercury is retro but usually the meeting has to be re-scheduled a couple of times.  SO, I think that the luck of Venus-Jupiter this month is more connected with social life and cultural things.  This is NOT a good time to sign major   contracts or important paperwork.  If you must, then please proof-read VERY carefully because there are likely to be errors, misunderstandings, even someone trying to slip something past you.

November 11th, the Moon conjoins Venus — a pleasant day for a party or socializing.  Same thing with the 15th when the Moon sextiles Venus.  Just keep things fairly small and simple in view of the Mercury retro.

The other Sun and/or rising signs that I haven’t mentioned — Pisces and Taurus will take inconjuncts from Venus — you guys really need to doublecheck all times, dates, places for appointments and meetings while Mercury is retro.  Inconjuncts can denote misunderstandings.  Strive for clear communication and use active listening techniques.  Repeat important addresses and phone numbers back to the other person to make sure you have written it down correctly.

Virgo and Scorpio people are taking semi-sextiles from Venus, a 30 degree transit.  Mild but helpful.  Good for inner work, analysis, and meditation.

Sag people are getting a sextile from Venus, pleasant for social life and particularly so while Mercury is briefly in Sag 10-29 to 11-15.  After Mercury goes retro November 6th, you have the chance to reconnect with old friends.  Go ahead and reach out.  If you are trying to locate someone from your past, you have pretty good transits to be successful.  Use Mercury retro in Scorp to play private detective…

I don’t see other Venus transits of note.  Of course, your individual chart could offer more info.  Venus enters Scorpio 11-21 and there will be more important transits during that period.

The thought occurs to me, since I am primarily a USA astrologer, that this monster storm on the East Coast could be rather difficult for so many people and families to sort out the legalities and the insurance paperwork afterwards.  I don’t like the aspects.  I want you who are affected to use Venus, be polite and diplomatic, but BE PERSISTENT (Mercury in Scorp) about your claim and getting the help you need.  Expect delays but  in the long run I think you will also find some hidden benefits in the disaster. The transits are indicating that if you are rebuilding you can end up stronger than before.  This would apply to relationships and businesses as well as homes.  Stay safe, Blessings, Jenae

WISH UPON A STAR — ASTROLOGY AND PAST LIVES — PART THREE

Hello dear Friends and Readers, Today we’re going to look at some real charts and examine the clues in the natal to past lives.  Two readers have volunteered their charts, both are women.  We’ll call them Reader A and B.  Both charts are posted so you can follow along.

Looking at Reader A, we see her North Node in Leo in the 12th house with her South Node in Aquarius in the 6th.  Her Sun in Gemini is in the 11th house, the natural Aquarian house, so right there is a theme — sublimating the ego for the good of the whole group, cooperation, teamwork, etc.  Her South Node in the 6th would seem to indicate that she is more comfortable working with a group of people, definitely a people person  rather than a lone wolf.  I actually know this person but we have never had a conversation about past lives during our sessions together.  What I have observed over many years is she has held a number of jobs being of service to the public (6th house) and the kinds of jobs where cooperation among the employees (6th) is important to their mutual success.  Looking at the exact trine from Saturn to her South Node, she can use the qualities of detachment, analysis, discipline,  and fairness in her job, whether she is a worker, a supervisor, or a boss.  So she’s already done group life, enjoys it. She’s familiar with it; those skills come with her from the past.  The challenge is going to be that Leo in the 12th.  People with North Node in Leo need to be whole-hearted and need to find the courage to put their heart on the line.  What has given her the courage to engage her emotions, and this is a relatively new development in her life, say the last few years, is to stand up for the principles and ethics she most believes in.  Look at her Moon in Sag in the 4th trine to the North Node.  Children and young people engage her heart energies. Look at Cancer on the cusp of her 12th with Venus in the 12th.  Unconditional love and nurturing, especially of the young.  Her step-son has been a tremendous catalyst in her life. The older she gets the more she will enjoy hanging out with people younger than herself.  Sometimes Gemini women can be a little too clinical, too detached.  What makes Reader A special is she has and IS learning to blend her emotions with her active mind.  The result is a warmer, kinder person who will end up inspiring others through her actions.

The 12th house is  tricky; it’s the hardest house to interpret.  It’s the house of secret sorrows, of hidden agendas, of really digging deep to understand ourselves.  Conversely, it is also the house of our spiritual aspiration and compassion for others.  This woman has had some challenges with both friends and family and had some key experiences during her 1st  Saturn return where she realized that what she thought was real was an illusion on her part.  This was painful but also liberating.  If you look at her 12th cusp with the Cancer Venus, you can see it was connected with family.  She likes family life — to her it was just one more happy group to cooperate with.  However, she discovered that there were some family members who were real, and their love for her was real,  and SOME  who were manipulative, dishonest, and even cruel.  She was very hurt but she also realized she had to set some new rules and boundaries.  She stood by her principles and ethics and reconciled with some and parted ways with others. She also had to recognize and own that part of the problem was her style of communication.  The North Node in this chart is ruled by her Sun in Gemini; her Mercury is retrograde and has some challenging aspects in the natal.  Bottom line is she is learning that some friends are like family and some are not, and sometimes we can be friends with our relatives and sometimes not.  The ties with these various family members are not new either.  Though she is Italian by heredity, this is not what is showing up in the 12th.  Italy is ruled by Sag — look at her Moon in the 4th — cute, yes?  What IS showing up is native American experiences and most likely Scotland — the tribes, the clans, etc.  She is learning to disengage from the combative energy and focus on the positive, cooperative relationships.  She has both within her family and again, this is not new.  She comes in to deal with it again, but in a new way this time.  She  has already learned that gossip, rumor, and innuendo clutter the picture.  The more she loves and approves of herself (Leo) the less trouble she will have with relatives who seek to pounce on the weak and vulnerable.  Leo wants to be loved.  We have to love ourselves first, it starts from within, THEN the outside world will reflect it back to us.

India is ruled by Leo.  I had a flash of her dancing when I began writing this post.  The bells, the jewels, the beautiful, colorful fabrics.  I think the Leo part of her 12th is indicating India.  And I must share this with you because I think it’s so fascinating.  In this life, during her 1st Saturn return, she began to teach dancing to others !!!  Those 3 areas are what I would suggest she study — Scotland, the North American tribes, and India.  Ask for dreams and answers to clarify.  Look at pictures of those places.  Study the life of those places historically — the homes, the  clothes, the shoes, the food, etc.  Study in particular some of the rules about families and family life within these cultures.  Those will give her more clues.  Since she has 4 planets retro, it wouldn’t hurt a bit to review the unspoken belief systems running through her own family, too.  Trying to define and  to determine what those are will help her decide if it works for her and she wants to keep them, or if it’s time to let some of them go…. Transiting Saturn is moving into her 4th, a perfect time to review the family legacy over the next few years…

Message for reader A — I have a very strong feeling that the Cinderella stepsister energy you were  dealing with this summer had its origins in a life in India where you were a highly regarded dancer and there was jealousy on their part.  You can just let it go…it’s their stuff and nothing to do with you…

READER B — moving on to a bird of a different feather :)) we find Reader B’s North Node in Taurus in her 5th house and her South in Scorpio in her 11th.  Taurus values stability and the North is in her kid house, so providing a stable home for her children is going to be very important.  We find her South Node in the 11th, the Aquarian house and she IS an Aquarian, plus the cusp of her 12th is Scorp with Neptune in the 12th in an exact square to her Sun.  The 12th also contains Sag degrees, so we’ll also be looking at Jupiter.  There’s a lot going on in this chart.  People with Sun square Neptune have had a terrible loss and the pain can stay with them their whole life.  It depends on how they handle it; with some people there’s so much scar tissue they’re afraid to trust or get close to anyone, with others it becomes the foundation of compassionate love for other people facing a crisis.  Reader B has chosen that compassionate and loving response.  I believe it was a divorce in her family when she was quite young.  I have another client with Sun square Neptune who lost his father when he was a very young child.  I have other clients with the same houses involved and they lost a sibling or a cousin, one lost a young neighbor friend.  Reader B is likely to have compensated for a fear of abandonment by making sure she was always there for her children.  That’s how it works, folks, it was all part of the plan…

Look a little closer at Neptune and what do you find?  Neptune TRINE Venus, TRINE Saturn  and TRINE Jupiter — she has a GRAND WATER TRINE !!!  Plus look at the ruler of the 12th Pluto, conjunct the ruler of Aquarius at the top of the chart in her career house.  These are opposing the Pisces planets but sextile to Neptune.  Have you guessed already?  This woman is a healer…   In my opinion, looking at all these various patterns in her chart, including the 12th house stuff, this is one of the 1st times in that she has had a public presence.  The water houses — the 4th, 8th, and 12th — this denotes a very private person.  And we all know how Scorpio can keep a lid on it — they make great private detectives.  Let’s talk about what she is doing in THIS life and then I’ll tell you what I see in her past…

She is a very friendly and outgoing person, but at the same time she is also very private.  Usually people with these traits prefer their friends one on one or in very small groups rather than the larger group activities.  She had a much more visible presence for some years because she owned a store that helped people be healthier.  Now she is studying naturopathy — doing what comes naturally to her J and planning to work how she is most comfortable — one on one.  Her clients will trust her and she will use her very great talents to be a private detective for better health for others.  With so much emphasis on Virgo and Pisces in this chart, she can work on the physical level and/or the mental level.  I believe she is supposed to be doing both.  Reike, herbs, vitamins, yoga, Chi Kung, homeopathic, faith healing, shamanic healing, kinesiology — the more versatile she is, the better the results.  She is not inclined toward traditional AMA medicine but I think she needs to study that, too, to be aware of the trends and the research, to better serve her clients.  Especially the endocrine systems and physiology in general.  Hygiene, diet, nutrition — these are ruled by Virgo.  I don’t see her getting a formal nursing degree, but people in need will find their way to her door, just as they have for centuries…it really doesn’t matter which discipline she follows, what she is really doing is channeling the healing energy to alleviate suffering in society.  She is quite the conduit for the universal healing energy;  I’m not sure if she even realizes that yet, but when she’s an old lady she will have some amazing tales to tell and that would be the time to write a book to help and teach others on the same path…

I see this person as a member of secret societies in the past — the Essenes for one, and possibly the Knights Templar or some similar group — they were metaphysical but there was a warrior element, too.  Look at Mars as both the old ruler of her 12th (before Pluto was discovered) and also the ruler of her Moon in Aries.  I think she was comfortable as a male, priest in an ancient temple/ priestess, too — again it doesn’t really matter because the healing work was always with the same intention.  Biblical times would be indicated with all the Pisces and the Neptune in the 12th and I have the impression of a life even farther back before recorded history as we know it, a life in a temple  by the sea where she WAS female…

Most likely more than one life spent by the sea,  there’s  an affinity for water in this chart.  Her Jupiter in the 8th rules the later part of her 12th — probably the native American experience with the herbs, the gathering of medicines, etc.  I would be very surprised if she doesn’t have a medicine bag in THIS life — the items she puts into the bag will be given to her by spirit, the guidance comes through spirit, through dreams, meditation, etc.

So, to sum up, Reader B has led cloistered lives before and this time she is meant to be a little more public with her healing ability.  At this time and place, it is more possible to do this in the US as a female.  For fun (North Node in the 5th) she loves gardening and landscaping.  An herb garden would also be likely.  Taurus likes to create beauty…

There’s a big issue about North and South Nodes in Taurus/Scorpio and vice versa  that I have seen over and over again for so many years…it’s infidelity.  You can’t tell who is the doer and who is the doee but one way or another there is the experience that what takes 20 years to build can be destroyed in 20 minutes. Trust is long in the building and  needs to be cherished.  Taurus is stubborn, loyal and they don’t let go.  The 3rd party in this case was a computer, not a physical person. Look at the South Node in the 11th, one of the technology houses.  The problem was in how the technology was being used. There’s nothing wrong with computers in themselves.  She could have walked away, but she didn’t.  By sheer will and tenacity she endured through the crisis, took a stand and didn’t back down, and  eventually  the whole situation was redeemed and healed.  That doesn’t happen very often.  I have been doing this work for so many years and I can only think of less than 10 out of hundreds of couples.  The reason I even bring this up is Saturn has just entered Scorpio and this is so big and so important that I will address this long transit in a post very soon.

Well, that’s all for now, hope you enjoyed and if you want more on this subject, feel free to ask or comment.  Blessings, Jenae
