WISH UPON A STAR — MERCURY IN SAGITTARIUS — DECEMBER 11 to DECEMBER 31, 2012

Good Morning dear Friends and Readers,  just in time for the holiday season Mercury enters Sagittarius from December 11th  through the 31st.  After all the heaviness and problems in November we need a little light hearted fun and laughter.  Since Venus also enters Sag on the 17th, the two planets together are symbolic of laughter,  jokes, and affectionate speech.  Venus and Mercury are not conjunct but close enough to help create a jovial atmosphere.  After all, Jupiter is the natural ruler of Sag — generous, tolerant, able to see the big picture.  What does this mean for us?  We’ll take a look later at some specific transits, but let’s start with the overall tone, the flavor of the month :))…New Moon in Sag on the 13th means Sun AND Moon are in Sag, too.  I think we’ll hear about some very generous donations at that time — individuals, corporate, etc.  If you look for it, there will be some stories in the news that are very inspiring, about people helping people, reaching out to alleviate suffering.  There will be some wonderful parties; some will be kindred spirits, friends, family, etc. but there will also be some with very diverse people attending, giving you a real opportunity to learn new things and make new connections.  So don’t be shy — if something new sounds fun and interesting, you should probably step out and attend the event.  Cultivate Jupiter qualities within yourself — be friendly and welcoming to others.

Sag is a sign that has to watch going overboard. Too much of a good thing.  Drinking and driving don’t mix.  There could be a lot of DUI’s unless people who are celebrating practice some moderation.  This is less likely with all the Sag energy in the air.  I would like to caution people to avoid travelling by car at night if possible.  Stay alert, particularly around Monday the 17th as Mercury opposes Jupiter, and again from the 29th – 31st — there are some critical transits at that time — Mercury at 29 degrees Sag and a Sun-Pluto conjunction.  More about that later…

Mercury in Sag this year is a great time to take stock of your life.  Philosophical and mystical breakthroughs are possible on the spiritual level.  Pay attention to the clues for answers to your questions.  It’s not an accidental Universe — the answers can come through the media, through strangers, through something you happen to read, as well as your own dreams and flashes of insight.  You can be helpful to others needing more information, too.  There is no better sign than Mercury in Sag for gathering  information and relaying it to the people who need it.  If you have this position in your natal you could be a great spokesperson for a business or organization.  On the mundane level, this transit is just as fabulous for gathering the info and the help you need in your life right now…

Let me share a couple recent examples…I have a client with Sun in the 9th and Libra rising.  She was an art major in college but ended up in a different field.  Her art gets expression in her personal life.  At work, she was cruising toward retirement and feeling pretty confused about whether to stay or go.  She was ready to leave the job but unsure about the medical/insurance aspects of retirement.  It was starting to stress her out.  I reminded her that she always made good decisions in her life by using the Libra pattern — research, discuss the options, let it rest for awhile, revisit the issue again — a leisurely and relaxed approach.  An Aries could probably make a split second decision and never look back, but my client was Cancer and more concerned with stability and security.  Once she took the pressure off of herself to make a quick decision, a most interesting thing happened.  Another department at her job asked for her services with publishing, using some new software.  She realized she could stay for another year, have fun, learn new programs that she could use after retirement by working part-time, and give the government some time to get their ducks in order re: the Medicare snafu.  When she made the decision to be open to new information regarding her decision, everything lined up beautifully within a week.  What I think is so cute astrologically about this is she’s a 9th house Sun and that is the SAG house and rules publishing !!

The key to this process with Sag is to be OPEN to new information and not attached as to HOW the information comes to you…

Here’s my own breakthrough that happened quite recently.  I had voiced out loud on many occasions, my wish to gift my daughter with child care money.  I had been specific, too, it was 10k, most of a year’s worth.  Mainly due to Saturn having been in my 2nd house the last 3 years, it was not possible for me to do this. Here’s what happened….nothing to do with me physically, but the money for child care that my daughter needed came to her anyway !!! It came to her in 3 different ways.  Miracles, big and small, are still happening in this world on a daily basis.  My breakthrough was I realized it didn’t have to be me — I held the INTENTION in my heart and mind and my speech, and that was enough…I didn’t need to be attached as to HOW the solution would come about.  I hope you guys see this as important to you, TOO !!!  You can use your INTENTION to help the world…you can hold positive intentions as small or as big as you feel called to do…for yourself, family, friends, the world…  I would like to add, though, that since there is so much energy in Sagittarius right now, it’s very appropriate to THINK BIG :))  I’m sharing my personal breakthrough with all of you in the hope that it will help you, too…

Looking at some specific Mercury transits,  Mercury trines Uranus on the 14th.  This is great for learning new things quickly, for using technology in new ways.  You could have a lot of fun with psychic communication with your friends; try guessing who is on the phone before you look at it.  It’s good training to recognize different peoples’ energy.  There’s electricity in the air and a lot of quick mental energy today.

On the 16th/17th the Moon sextiles Mercury.  Another good period for communication and intuitive empathy for others.  It’s easier to talk about feelings with this transit, especially if you add humor into the mix.  A fun time for socializing with groups of friends.

On the 17th Mercury opposes Jupiter after dinnertime, PST.  Sometimes with this transit, people promise more than they can deliver.  Overbooking your schedule can lead to transportation problems, and everyone needs to be cautious about out of control  drivers.  Some people will tend to be quite boastful under the influence of this transit, annoying for sure, but best to take stuff you hear with a big grain of salt.  In general, people tend to be over-optimistic with this transit, so you can balance it by using some moderation today.

Those of who have read earlier posts already know that the 29th degree is a critical degree.  This month Mercury will transit the 29th degree of Sag on December 30th, the same day that the Sun is conjunct Pluto.  Note also that the Full Moon is December 27-28th Capricorn/Cancer (square Uranus).  My feeling is that the days after Christmas may not be pleasant compared to the transits during the 2 weeks before the holiday.  Party before Christmas but be cautious as we approach New Year’s Eve. Mercury at a  critical degree can mean trouble with foreign countries due to a lack of diplomacy — remember the energy of Sag is to lose their temper but let it go right away and not stay mad — there could be some kind of dispute due to hot heads taking over the microphone.  ?  As to who it could be, I have no clue.  Egypt is a mess and Syria is a disaster…maybe it’s just some new scandal involving politicians?   Long distance transportation problems, people drinking too much, people over-reacting with fear and prejudice rather than tolerance and appreciation of our unique differences — all these are possibilities.  For the most part people should be able to avoid direct consequences of these transits by staying away from crowds of people that can veer out of control.  If you are working in a public business, do your best to be polite, attentive and diplomatic.  If you are working in emergency service occupations, get ready for a busy weekend.  If you are working in security on ANY level, stay alert !  Taverns, pubs, and clubs should increase their security over the last weekend of December.  You get the picture…now we have to add Sun conjunct Pluto into the mix.  On the purely geological level, this would be symbolic of magma rising up to the surface.  There are already a number of places with active volcanos and these should continue and even new ones begin to erupt.  The earth is unsettled these  days.  The next possibility would be earthquakes from deep underground.  Capricorn rules Mexico and Central America, as well as Hawaii and Alaska, plus Texas and New Mexico are also Capricorn.

Looking at Sun-Pluto on the human level, there are a number of possibilities…a deep release and healing would be possible with health and wellness issues.  There’s probably some kind of list that comes out at the end of the year rating various businesses in categories concerning social responsibility.  Look for some surprises on the list this year.  I think we’ll see or hear quite a bit about business policies and ethics — both the positive and the negative.  This would include the sports world, too, looking at it as big business. The government is currently playing brinksmanship and this conjunction would accent coercion and manipulation as the players position themselves for personal reasons instead of seeking and finding the compromise that the citizens want.  I personally think they should not be allowed to go home for Christmas unless they get their assignment done.  They are acting like petulant children instead of adults… I should amend that statement…SOME of them are acting like children…there are a few sincere ones…very few…evidently most of them have failed to study the history of Rome…

OK, back to our lives and Sun-Pluto…some of you with Birthdays around the end of December have felt pressure to change careers or at least job conditions all year.  By now you should have solved this, or at least have taken the  first concrete steps.  Now the energy slowly begins to shift to people born in early January, Pluto on YOUR SUN is asking you to transform and revolutionize your life, your career, your health, etc.  This is a fabulous transit for all of us to focus on a list of our goals for the new year. And depending on what house is Capricorn in your natal chart, you can figure out what to start on first.  Pluto is will power, transformation and regeneration.  This is a great transit to use our will power and concentration to renew our bodies, minds, and spirits…Blessings in this Holiday Season, Jenae

WISH UPON A STAR — BRUNO MARS, AN ASTROLOGICAL REVIEW OF HIS NEW CD   12/2012

Hello Dear Friends and Readers, someone said many years ago that musicians were the prophets of our times.  Neil Young, Joan Baez, Bob Marley,  Bruce Springsteen, Alan Jackson ( who proved after 911 that he could channel Spirit to create incredible beauty from horrendous evil) — these are just a few that come to mind.  There are people who study the history of music who know far more than I; I’m just an eclectic listener and I like everything from Georgian chants, classical  and madrigals to jazz, rock, country and all points in between.   I have long been a fan of musicians who play multiple instruments; I think I read that Prince plays 54 instruments.  Well, I found a couple more — Bruno Mars and Hunter Hayes.  They’d make an interesting combo for a Crossroads…

Anyway, I wrote about Bruno earlier when he used his Saturn on Mercury transit to write and compose prolific amounts of music. Now he’s just releasing “Unorthodox Jukebox”  and I think it may be an excellent illustration of Saturn in Scorpio.  If you  will recall, I wrote in earlier posts about the dark side of the world becoming more visible.  Saturn was last in Scorpio in 1983-85 and lots of buried stuff came into very public focus during those years — AIDS, abuse of children, women, animals, the planet,  the rights of farm workers, and lots more.

Let’s look at the release date, though the new music is available now.  It’s 12-11-12 — Moon in Scorpio along with Saturn and Venus.  There are some very heavy Plutonian themes in this new music.  WARNING:  Bruno’s new cd is not for children.  It’s very graphic and not appropriate.  I used to send links of his songs to my little granddaughter — NOT  this time.

His melodies and arrangements and his voice are still exquisite. You can tell he gave this music his very best from start to finish.  His lyrics…he’s not just pushing the envelope, I think he’s trying to break out of the box!  What box?  I think the only box is in his own mind.  Let’s review the transits in his chart for a clue.  By the way, I’m not posting his chart because I think famous people have a right to their privacy.  But his birthday is common knowledge and he’s a Libra with what? You guessed it — a LOT of Scorpio.  His Pluto, Saturn, and South Node are all in Scorpio.  Pluto is particularly strong here since it’s the RULER of Scorpio.  One of the old names for Pluto was The Destroyer; the plants have to die for the seed to ripen and regenerate, so with Pluto there is a major theme about transformation and regeneration.  Pluto was the God of the Underworld who kidnapped and raped Persephone. There are several new songs about regret and loss in relationships.  Now that Saturn is transiting Scorpio there’s probably some karma with this. A couple of songs seem to be an apology, making amends.  People with the Nodes in Taurus/Scorpio have to learn that what takes 20 years to build can be destroyed in 20 minutes.  There are issues about fidelity.  Flirting with the underworld and taboos might be fuel for the composer, but those experiences rarely lead to inner peace or happiness in love relationships. Some people need to plumb the depths to get to the heights.  Van Gogh, for example.  Others prefer a more level existence.   Vengeance is another Scorpio theme in this new music.   So are all the sexual themes and innuendos… all in all, a whole lot of Scorpio.  It’s what I would expect from the current transits in his chart.  I don’t know much about his personal life, but he sure needs to be aware and responsible for his thoughts, words, and deeds over the next few years as he completes his first Saturn return.  That is always a time of big, life-changing events.  Note that transiting Saturn is squaring his Jupiter and his Moon  at this time.  I think he is positioning himself for more creative freedom for years to come, depending on the record sales, but his personal life is going to highlight the values he most believes in and it’s only going to work out if both parties share the same core values.  The Eskimos have 26 different words for love.  Our language is paltry in comparison.  It will be fun to watch him compose along Sagittarian themes in a few years, incorporating music and instruments from all around the world.  Since he understands technology he’ll probably put together some kind of world sing-along or musical collaboration when Saturn is in Sag.  Something with foreign language, music, or composers…

He wanted to be on the world stage.  With his Saturn return, he needs to accept the responsibility that goes along with it.  He’s a hero and role model to many…

I think  what most concerns me is that if the musicians are the prophets, what he’s writing about does not indicate that the young kids out there are finding real love and affection.  I hope it’s not the jungle he makes it out to be. That is very sad… I want to hear from you young readers…do you find partners that treat you right? Do you have love based on friendship, respect, humor and affection for each other?  If you are single, do you have friends, REAL friends, that you can count on?  I’m trying to understand exactly why my readers read the Venus posts more than any other planet.  There needs to be a way to alleviate the isolation people are feeling…Neptune dissolves boundaries…I think I’m almost ready to write about Neptune…Blessings, Jenae

WISH UPON A STAR — VENUS IN SAGITTARIUS DECEMBER 15, 2012 — JANUARY 9, 2013

OK, dear Readers and Friends, the top search term is for Venus by far.  Not surprising, since the world could use some love as the antidote to war, hate, prejudice, despair, etc.  Venus appears in the sky as either a morning star or an evening star.  What this means in peoples’ charts is Venus will either be in the same sign as the Sun, or one sign ahead, or one sign after.  Once about every two years, Venus   goes into retrograde motion for about 6 weeks.  That’s about a year away from now.

At this time Venus is travelling behind the Sun, so Venus enters Sag just before the Sun enters Capricorn…this transit is less than a month long.  Naturally, people with their Sun in late Sag or in Cap are going to be the main beneficiaries of this transit.  Venus on your Sun, or on other planets in your natal in these 2 signs, means that  life will be a little sweeter and easier for you.  People will be kinder and more cooperative and generous.  Venus works on the attraction principle so it will be easier to draw to you that which you seek.  The first step is knowing what you want.  Try making a wish list.  Write it down and place the paper where you will see it everyday.  For those of you who are seeking love, it is important to know what qualities you are seeking in a partner.  There should be 10 or 12 traits on your list.  Those of you who need more money or money to purchase items you want or need should apply the same principle — make a check to yourself and place it where you will see it a lot.  Same thing with a wish list of items you need.  One time many years ago I needed a bunch of winter clothing for the kids.  We had moved to a colder climate so it was a necessity.  I made my list. About 2 months later a check arrived  for the needed amount.  It was a retroactive pay raise from the job I had just left.  Amazing how this stuff works.  You write down what you need and release attachment as to HOW it might come about — just give it to the Universe…

If it’s artistic inspiration you need — remember Venus is love, art, beauty — then look up the name in mythology of the muse you need and visualize yourself, every day, receiving inspiration.  Think about this also just before you go to sleep each night.  And don’t be specific about where the inspiration has to come FROM, just know that it WILL.  By the way, the great artists that have passed on often function as spirit guides to artists here on earth.  They  help in response to your own focus, concentration and passion for your art.

Venus in Sag is particularly good at attracting information and knowledge for others.  Again, be alert and aware because the information you are seeking can come from your research, but ALSO from a chance encounter in a waiting room, from the TV, from a magazine that falls out of the rack at your feet, etc.  SO… don’t limit yourself.

People with late Gemini or early Cancer rising are going to have Venus transiting through their 7th house of partnerships.  This gives you an opportunity to meet someone special, to come to agreements with partners, to enjoy more love and affection.  So many people don’t seem to understand that love begins over the breakfast table.  It’s putting your hand on your loved one’s shoulder as you pour the juice or coffee or tea.  It’s making the lunches with little surprises tucked inside.  It’s taking the time to tell your sweetie you hope they have a good day before you leave the house, remembering, of course, that they have an important meeting that day and acknowledging it.

People who want more love need to start by honoring and loving themselves.  Doing this in small ways pays off big time.  The Universe  reflects back to us what is inside us.  The outer world mirrors our relationship with ourselves.  Do you have a picky, critical mate and feel stuck and unappreciated?  Maybe you need to be kinder and gentler to YOURSELF first.  Really anchor that in, how you treat yourself, affirm your self-respect and self-esteem daily, and watch the world start to reflect that back to you.  We often meet qualities in ourselves through our partners, aspects of ourselves that we  don’t acknowledge consciously.  I have watched these principles in action over many years and either the relationship will bloom, or the person will bloom and gain the courage and self-respect not to tolerate anything less than REAL love.

Venus doesn’t make too many major transits at this time.  Let’s take a look at what’s happening during this time frame…

Venus squares Neptune on December 16th.  I usually allow orb of a day on either side of the exact transit.  This square could indicate a hangover from excessive partying the night before.  We could feel foggy today, not quite with it.  Not a good day to splurge and break your budget.  Definitely a good day to visit someone who is ill or confined — to show compassion, understanding and emotional support to someone who is having a rough time or a crisis. For some people, their pets are the ones who are going to need the love..

Venus trines Uranus on Wednesday the 19th.  This one is fun for spontaneous rapport and telepathy with other people, including potential partners.  You could receive unexpected good news, information, or a gift.  Don’t be surprised if you think about someone and they call you within a few minutes.  Great for going out with friends or a group situation.

Moon in Aries trines Venus on the 20th — this one is great for going somewhere new, or trying something new.  Initiative can be rewarded.  Nice for social life, particularly with women.  Shopping looks pretty good, too.

Venus opposes Jupiter on December 22nd and 23rd, depending on your time zone.  This is a more major transit and people need to be careful about the famous Sag tendency of too much of a good thing.  Excess would be more likely here, as would people around you who think they can get something for nothing.  How might this manifest in our lives?  I get a couple of impressions here.  For one thing, the scammers and pickpockets will be out in full force.  Pay attention and don’t let your guard down if you’re out and about, last minute shopping, etc.  Donating to official charities is OK.  You can look up online to see which ones have the most reasonable admin fees.  The other impression is more about being in social situations where a part of you feels reluctant or ambivalent about the people you are with.  Maybe this is a family situation involving  in-laws or other relatives?  Rather than resenting the obligation and feeling boxed in, try to accept that you drew these people into your life for a reason and see if you can figure out what reason, what there is to learn from the situation.  If they are pushy, clueless and insensitive,  then be glad you are not !!  Overall, don’t let yourself be talked into doing anything you don’t feel good about.  If you have to say no to something, use the Sag humor to get you through it.  Be very moderate with alcohol so no one can try to take advantage of you.  No drinking and driving !! The weather can make driving more difficult — allow extra time and be a defensive driver.  Some people will be going on a special trip as a gift — they would be the ones with major trines and sextiles  from their natal to this opposition.

The Moon in Gemini opposes Venus the  day after Christmas.  It’s a busy time for most women and you may miss your female friends and also loved ones who have departed this earth.  It’s not a bad day but there seem to be a lot of distractions and less cooperation than you would like.  For male-female relationships, this opposition makes it harder to agree on social plans, especially if there are ex’s involved and step-children.  Do your best to be tolerant.

On January 5th, 2013, Venus sextiles the Moon in Libra.  This is a very nice time to meet someone new or to enjoy the love relationship you have.  Laughter and shared  social plans predominate.  A very nice weekend I would think. Since Venus is in Sag, places to meet someone new might be libraries, bookstores, while travelling, possibly at the local pub, at a church or college function,  even at the horse races or a dog show :)) — Venus in Sag rules horses and large dogs.  The main thing is to follow your own interests and have some fun.  If you don’t like dogs, then why go to a dog show in the hope of meeting someone?

Venus enters Capricorn on January 9th, technically the 8th in US time zones.  So, Venus is at 29 degrees Sag during most of that Tuesday.  Remembering that the last degree of a sign, the 29th, is a critical degree, then pay attention to the Sag tendencies of excess, speed, over-optimism.   There are no harsh or  challenging aspects to Venus at this time.  The 29th degree could just symbolize some kind of philosophical or mystical breakthrough.  It’s also a wonderful transit for writers and musicians, creative types who use words, in the sense of  wrapping up a big project and/or connecting with kindred spirits at a distance.  People who write ads or commercials should plan for a brainstorming session, too.  There could be something spectacular in the news about teachers — let’s hope it’s the positive type of news…

The next Venus post for Capricorn will have quite a lot of major transits…stay tuned…comments and suggestions are welcome…Blessings, Jenae
