Back again, dear Friends and Readers…Capricorn is a serious sign. People with NATAL Saturn in their 10th house of career, the Capricorn house, usually have to work from the bottom up to attain any success.  There are no shortcuts — long hours, hard work, and attention to all the details — this is their foundation. People with NATAL Saturn must have traditional education —  college degree, maybe more than one — to attain success in their career. People with NATAL Saturn in their 1st house of presenting themselves to the outside world are usually shy and NOT confident until they work hard on developing themselves and some skills to share with the world. The point is Saturn is a planet of pressure.  Add Pluto conjunct Saturn in this year’s TRANSITS and you have a LOT of pressure. Resistance is futile, so accept the restrictions and pressure and prepare to buckle  down and get to work. Figure out by house what is your weak point and sincerely do all that you  can to strengthen yourself.  I know a guy who is really smart but he is not patient with others. It will be his downfall at work unless he can get a handle on his behavior with co-workers. I know a woman who helps many children but she doesn’t let herself go out to play very much. You guessed it; she has Saturn in her 5th. Looking for a positive example, I know a woman who feels money is somewhat tiresome, but she understands that with Saturn moving into her 8th house, she had better pay attention. And she is doing just that — educating herself about investments and money management in general. It’s those kinds of behaviors that will allow Jupiter in Capricorn to bring positive energy into our lives this year.  Jupiter is considered the lucky planet but in Capricorn it’s not going to fall into our laps this year. EFFORT, consistent effort, is required and THEN you get the goodies :))  All you need to do to understand this  transit is remember that Saturn brings us what we have already earned.  Jupiter might bring it to us a little sooner, or in multiple small doses, but the nature of Capricorn — slow and steady — will prevail…

If you have Capricorn rising, use Jupiter to keep your attitude positive as you slog through a long-term and somewhat restrictive situation.  Develop your leadership skills. Read and study about how a good leader empowers and inspires others to do their best. Since the 1st house is also a symbol of our body as well as personality, do all you can to strengthen and heal your bones, joints, and teeth.  Keep your eyes on the long-term goals that you have set for yourself. You may need more rest this year, as Saturn in your 1st can dampen down your vitality. Make 2020 the year of the POWER NAP :))

If you have Aquarius rising, then Jupiter will be in your 12th house.  This position is called the help at the last minute energy — heavenly help will pull you through when it seems that all is lost. VERY important to add prayer and meditation to your daily life and to read and study the stories of other people who have received this kind of help. Guideposts Magazine would be a good example.  People with Saturn in their 12th often work alone — artists, writers, etc. THREE planets in your 12th is a big deal.  Your life may require you to face your worst fears. I know a guy who has been diagnosed with a progressive illness.  He was afraid of doctors but now has to deal with them.  He is actually receiving good medical care, which he admits. He is working hard to maintain a positive attitude, focusing on what he CAN do.  The 12th is a tricky house; to me it is the hardest house to understand because it has to do  with the contract we agree to before we come to earth.  It can be a house of grief and loss and sorrow, but also one of love and peace and serenity.

If you have Pisces rising, then all the Cap transits will be in your 11th house of friends and groups. Think carefully about making commitments to  groups this year. If it doesn’t feel right, then honor your intuition. If you find a group that you DO like and feel good about, then you will probably have increased responsibility in this group.  It could be a club, a charity, a fraternal organization, a union, or even just a group of friends that gets together on a regular basis.  Usually the activity is not purely social, the 11th is the barn-building/quilting bee energy — there is a purpose beyond the moment.  If Neptune in Pisces is in your 1st house, then consider joining with others to help the animals or the environment.  Cleaning up the beach or helping pet adoption groups would be examples, or planting trees — Uranus in Taurus is making great transits for helping nature, too.

If you have Aries rising, then the 3 Cap planets are potentially challenging you from the 10th house of career, reputation, and authority. Not the easiest time to deal with the government officials, but the transits COULD be encouraging you to be your own authority and not value others peoples’ opinions more than your own.  Sometimes Saturn transiting through your 10th will bestow a difficult boss on you, as a shortcut lesson with a lot of pressure on how to be a good boss yourself :)) NOT easy but you will see the value once the squares have passed… I would suspect that you will need to be more precise with details at work and less argumentative.  Practice  starting your sentences with the word “yes” instead of the word “no” and see if other people become more cooperative.  The more professional you behave, the better.  You could get a big promotion that throws you off balance.  Workshops, coaching, extra training that is related to your career can really help you this year!!

If you have Taurus rising, then all the Cap transits are in your 9th.  What a treat !!  Could be work-related travel, an overseas move, back to school, an increase in your income coming to you from a distance — all these are possibilities designed to help you grow and not get stuck in a rut.  You know you like routine, but Uranus is shaking your life up so you can grow and thrive for years to come.  Remote work from home could be another possibility. If you need a new job, consider something related to legal work or higher ed as possibilities. If you are already happy with your career, expect rewards, but the type that will push you to grow.  You might need to learn a new language.  The gifts you give to others in 2020 should have a touch of good luck attached to them…you want to share prosperity — like a jade plant, or a FengShui frog, or even a small tree to plant as a gift.

If you have Gemini rising, then Capricorn would be your 8th house of shared money matters — things like taxes, insurance, inheritance, investments, mutual funds, etc. Jupiter here can make it easy to get credit, so don’t overextend yourself because Saturn-Pluto says you will have to pay the piper.  However, if you need a long-term loan, like a refi on a mortgage to get a lower rate, then do so, but don’t do it just to get equity out. PLEASE do yourself a favor and ask questions about all things financial and write down the answers in a notebook that is dedicated to 8th house issues.  Live within your budget and obey all financial rules concerning taxes, retirement funds, etc. Get to know and really understand all insurance policies that you have. Ask questions!!  Look for mistakes or misunderstandings !! Doublecheck everything  very carefully and act like Mercury is retrograde all year — that should keep you out of trouble.  If it was me and I was in any kind of financial partnership, then I would be very cautious and keep an eye on the books. This is not a favorable year to loan money or property to someone because it could be a long time or never until you get it back.  That being said, the positives are all in the area of educating yourself about these areas…remember the old phrase…”Give a man a fish and you’ve fed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you’ve fed him for a lifetime.”  Teach yourself how to be the fisherman!!

Well, time for lunch, my friends…more manana…Best wishes, Jenae

OTTERSPACE ASTROLOGY —WISH UPON A STAR — JUPITER IN VIRGO — 8-11-2015 to 9-9-2016

Dear Friends and Readers. Jupiter transits through each sign in roughly one year, so Jupiter entering Virgo last occurred 12 years ago. There’s a lot of talented astrologers posting about Jupiter in Virgo. Some posts are quite technical. My preference is not to write for other astrologers but to write for everyday people who have some background and familiarity with astrology and would like to know more. I write these posts with teaching in mind. Planting seeds…

In 45 years I have never lost my passion for understanding people through astrology. I like helping people by bringing astrology down to earth and focusing on solutions to problems they may face, as well as alerting them to opportunities. Gee, folks, have you guessed? Yes, I have Virgo 1st house :)) (late Leo rising). Lately, I find myself with a keen desire for organizing shelves and drawers :))  Bringing order to chaos might be one theme in the coming year, but on all levels — physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. We’ll explore that shortly.

I noticed that some astrologers are charging money for their Jupiter in Virgo posts. I may do that next year when Jupiter enters my 2nd house. It will probably be $12 because I like the number 12 — 12 signs, 12 houses, etc. But this year I still want to shake things up a bit and not use the old format of going through each rising sign. One, I don’t have time. I’m very busy. Two, I want fresh growth, something new…

So here is my idea. I want a few people to write to me on the private reading page and give me complete birth data. Then we’ll put up the chart for all to see ( initials rather than names) and I will point out where the Jupiter opportunities are occurring in that chart. If I get swamped with requests, I may not choose your chart, but I can do some and we will all learn from them together. Learning should be fun !! I want to bring Jupiter in Virgo out of theory and into real life…

OK, if you know where the Virgo energy is in your chart, that’s where Jupiter will expand your opportunities. The only caveat is Jupiter is so expansionary that sometimes a bit of moderation is required to manifest the best luck and growth. In addition, this year is a little tricky for Mutable signs since Saturn will square Virgo from Sag, and Neptune in Pisces will oppose Virgo. This forms what is called a T-square and impels a lot of energy out the empty spot — Gemini. In fact, late May and June 2016 when the Sun, Mercury, and Venus transit through Gemini and create kind of a mutable grand cross. Time management and clear and careful communication will be critical. Mars retrogrades in Sag at 8 degrees and goes back to 23 degrees Scorpio 4-17-16 to 6-29-2016. Same time frame. Mercury is retro 4-28 to 5-22-2016 but in Taurus. Still, next spring is a time to be cautious regarding travel, communication, and important documents and/or contracts. Probably a good time to stay home and organize your filing cabinet as well as making copies of important papers !!!

Virgo is one sign associated with health, nutrition, cleanliness, small pets, gardening (Virgo = the harvest), accounting and bookkeeping, troubleshooting problems and finding brilliant solutions. Jupiter brings you opportunities in these areas. Check which house is Virgo in your chart for further clues and fine-tuning…

Virgo at its best means finding joy in small domestic tasks and chores, not making any difference between work and fun, finding joy through being of service to others, letting your work or hobbies be a labor of love, mastering the details and bringing all the small parts into a beautiful cohesive whole. Like assembling a jigsaw puzzle. I think Jupiter here will help us keep the big picture in mind, even while sorting through a bunch of details. IMO, if we can find the joy in doing the dishes, the floor, the laundry, cleaning the bathroom, etc. as a daily process without lust of result, if we make no difference between pulling weeds and harvesting our garden, if we find joy INSIDE ourselves no matter what we are doing — that is a successful life in the spiritual sense. All other earthly rewards follow and will manifest in your life as a result of that inner peace and happiness. On a more mundane level, this passion for excellence and order and organization may well manifest as a raise, a promotion, a new job, etc. There may also be opportunities for travel and/or further education at work that will be paid for by your employer.

I have noticed that men with either Mercury and Venus in Virgo or Venus and Mars in Virgo are excellent with building and woodworking. Must be that precision applied to the details :))…they do beautiful work.

Jupiter in Virgo offers us a chance to improve health and wellness through incorporating new information, possibly new research coming out about the food we eat. Food is the best first line of defense against illness. And there is more new research already about the benefits of exercise and movement vs. being sedentary.

Virgos are famous for spotting the flaws, and Jupiter here could exaggerate that tendency. Sometimes Virgos are so hard on themselves they get headaches. Jupiter could also be helpful to be more positive and optimistic about who you are, helping your inner thought patterns lighten up, help you be more TOLERANT of yourself and others. I think we have a choice here. New information and philosophies about our thinking and analyzing processes can help reprogram how we view ourselves. Besides, isn’t it more fun to be a Santa Claus instead of a sourpuss?

Most Virgos are wonderful about organizing stuff. Whether its on the mental or physical level, this is a great year to organize your home, your work environment, your hobbies and tools, your health — both mental and physical, and your outlook on life in general. One of my daughters found a great website a few years ago — www.flylady.com   It’s about making housework easier, being organized, and they sell great tools for household chores.

Time management will be more important for all of us this year, no matter where your Virgo energy is in your chart, and this is due to so many mutable sign transits. Be on time or even a bit early. Avoid gossip, rumor and innuendo. Let people tell their own news. Strive for the ideal but keep in mind that perfection does not exist on the material plane, so don’t kick yourself for honest mistakes. Strive for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism rather than harsh words that immediately put other people on the defensive. And you guys know me by now — don’t forget to grow a garden !!! Even if it’s just a few herb plants. That makes you a producer and not just a consumer. Virgos get a great sense of satisfaction from being productive :))… Blessings, Jenae

SATURN IN SAGITTARIUS — PART SIX — April 27, 2015

Good morning dear Friends and Readers, I just re-read Part Five of this Saturn series and realized I certainly didn’t get back to you in February to finish this up.  My apologies.  Life just seems to be roaring along these days, it seems like a month is gone in the blink of an eye.  Anyway, here is the final post of this series…

If you have VIRGO RISING, then Saturn in Sag will be transiting through your 4th house of unconditional love, home and family, early childhood programming and heredity.  This house rules history and the ancestors.  Have you watched that TV show – “Who Do You Think You Are?”  about discovering your heredity?  Saturn in Sag here could be good for research in that area, like joining Ancestry.com, interviewing your relatives, etc.

A more traditional way of interpreting Saturn in the 4th is heavier responsibility for older relatives.  Keep an eye on them, their health and general nutritional needs, check the house for hazards, etc.  Remembering that Saturn retrogrades back into the last few degrees of Scorpio, from June 17 to September 19, 2015 — that will give you a better chance to confer with other siblings to make consensus decisions if necessary.  The well-being of your elders may be a big focus over the next few years.  I lost my Mother when Saturn was in my 4th

With a lot of people, Saturn in their 4th is going to manifest as the house is too small, the house is too dark, you don’t like who you live with, etc. etc.  If you find yourself in any of those situations, then look at Saturn as bringing up weaknesses or limitations to help you decide what you really DO want.  It would take hard work to change your lifestyle but the results would be lasting and ultimately a BIG improvement.  DO remember that if you buy a house when Saturn is in your 4th, you’d best be prepared to live there a LONG time.  Since Sag rules the hips and thighs, I would think level  floors and shallow stairs with wide treads and good railings might become more important as time goes on.  It’s not a negative to buy a home with this transit, but you’d want to have a very thorough home inspection and also be on the lookout for any outdoor problems.  Things like drainage and erosion if the ground isn’t level.  Sag is one of the legal signs, so of course a clear title would be critical.  Personally, I wouldn’t buy a home when Saturn in Scorpio squares Jupiter in Leo this summer.  Also in late July, Venus goes  retrograde from 0 degrees Virgo back to 14 degrees Leo, going direct on 9-6- 15 and then Mercury is retro 9-17 to 10-9-15.  SO… there’s about 5 days in mid June that would be OK to close and then another small window from 9-7 through 9-16 -15.  Astrology at work  :))…

Looking at Saturn on more of the emotional/spiritual level, it’s very important to be aware of negative attitudes that you may have absorbed from family without consciously thinking about it.  It will take work to turn this around and form more positive responses.  Really, with Saturn, do we have any choice?  It’s embrace the challenge and master it, or be faced with penalties and restrictions.  If you have family members  who are trying to self-medicate with alcohol and/or drugs, then Neptune transiting through Pisces will square transiting Saturn from your 7th house, adding additional pressure and possibly indicating that your family member whom  you love and want to help, is in deep denial.  Self honesty and living according to your conscience is one way to set a good example.  But you’ll need to be aware that the more you progress, the more your  loved one may not.  Love is the answer, maybe with Saturn it means tough love…..

Another possibility with this transiting square, interpreted differently, would be that you and a partner are equally committed to a large project — volunteer, or humanitarian, or social services — something that brings help to people who are suffering.  One more possibility is that instead of people, the two of you are helping animals.

If you have LIBRA RISING, then Saturn in Sag is transiting through your 3rd house for the next few years.  A sextile between the two is certainly less challenging than the square. Sextiles mean opportunities with some elbow grease required to get results.  Let’s start by defining the 3rd house.  The 3rd is brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  The 3rd also rules the local neighborhood, and short term travel.  The 3rd is early education, kindergarten through high school, as well as technical studies that concentrate the mind.

You may be going the extra mile to help out 3rd house relatives.  There can be a deeper communication.  This can happen both long-distance and locally, depending on where your various relatives live.

It’s a great transit to read and study and go to elderhostels or workshops.  I know one gal with this position and she lives in a large city and has found all kind of free computer classes.  That is just one example of technical studies.  Since Saturn is a symbol for the natural 10th house, the career house, you might want to check if your employer offers support for classes.  Some employers will credit you ½ the expense for work – related education.  Some will offer flex time or work from home time to make up for class time.

The way I personally like to view Saturn in the 3rd is self-examination and review of our habitual daily thought patterns — our “self talk”.  I thought  I was such a positive person until Saturn went through my 3rd in the 80’s and boy did I get a huge wake-up call!  True, it was Scorpio, but those thought patterns were deep and dark and very negative.  The only way to overcome these habits is to neutralize each fear thought as it comes to the surface by thinking its opposite.  By building this new habit, we’re not constantly RE-programming the negative.  I did pretty well until Saturn came back around again in 2012 and it was a major backslide.  I had to wonder if really, I had made any progress at all.  Fear of getting older, fear of being homeless, dreams of war, torture, and utter desolation.  The only difference is I snapped out of it quicker than last time, so I suppose that could be progress.  I worked with some very talented counsellors and friends who helped me.  I have to credit my friends for their extreme patience with me during one of the hardest ordeals in my life.  Would you want to talk to someone who didn’t have anything positive to say?  I was just a bundle of bad news, one thing after the other…it was relentless.  Saturn held my feet to the fire until the last possible moment and then the real estate situation that triggered the backslide ended.  I can look back now and see what I learned and why it was good for me.  I can even be glad it happened.  That’s the cool thing about Saturn — it’s a very definite energy and when it’s done you know it and can harvest the wisdom gained from the challenging transit.  I had a bunch of squares and one opposition.  Also, just to keep the record straight, I died in WW II in very adverse conditions.  It’s possible that Saturn was bringing up some old memories that needed release and healing.

Libra is sextile Saturn in Sag so it should be easier for you.  These two signs rule law and justice.  I would suggest that you make EVERY effort to keep your life in harmony with the law, on every level, but especially in business.  Neptune transits square Saturn at the end of 2015 from your 6th — that’s who you hire and who hires you.  Know your state regulations and licensing procedures.  Sign contracts with people if necessary but consider have a lawyer review them first.  You can also join legal protection organizations for a small fee each month.  There’s “legal zoom” and “legal shield” — maybe others but those are two that I know of…   In the old days, a handshake sufficed.  Life is a bit more complicated now…

Since the 3rd house is local travel and Saturn would imply business-related travel, maybe this is the year you should begin keeping a mileage log.  This mostly applies if you have your own business, but some organizations reimburse mileage, too.  I know people who drive seniors to medical appointments and are reimbursed via stipend — they make a little extra money and do a good deed.  Another good use of a mileage log :))…

People with Libra rising are very partnership-oriented.  Saturn in Sag in your 3rd is offering you an opportunity to be very honest with your partner AND yourself, to communicate clearly.  If you don’t have an immediate answer, then take your time and address the conversation again later.

To sum up, LIBRA RISING, it’s a great year for education of all kinds…both learning and teaching.  Don’t they say the teacher learns as much, if not more, than the student?  Try looking at Saturn as asking you to take personal responsibility for your thoughts and words, both to others  and to yourself.

If you have SCORPIO RISING, then SATURN in SAG is transiting through your 2nd house of personal resources, money, talents, and core values.  If you read some astrology books, they will say oh, Saturn in the 2nd is terrible for money.  I just don’t agree with that at all.  It’s actually one of the best times to start turning a hobby into a career.  Sure Saturn is a slow and steady energy.  You can’t expect results overnight and it’s true you’ll need to dot every “I” and cross every “t”.  If you’ve paid your dues and perfected your skills, then look for a slow and steady increase in your business.  Since Saturn is in Sag, if the rest of your chart concurs, this is an appropriate time to get licensed, bonded, insured, funded — the nuts and bolts kind of stuff to get your new business up and going.  For advertising, you’d want favorable Mercury and Jupiter transits to your chart.

Another  way to look at Saturn in your 2nd is to train yourself to manage your money and resources.  Reading Suze Orman is educational, and there are all kinds of websites that can teach you how to budget and plan for your future.  This would be a great transit to start a 529 plan — future college tuition for young children.  If you remember that Sag by nature is a warm, generous, and sometimes impulsive sign, then Saturn here is not entirely comfortable.  I think Saturn here might be suggesting to hold back from impulsive buying — I think a disciplined approach to spending will help you avoid running short when something happens and you need to gather funds.  This could be a challenge but the reward is peace of mind that you have savings for emergencies.

Saturn transiting your 2nd also means you can invest in yourself — your talents and skills will benefit from additional education.  I bought books when Saturn was in my 2nd and I never regretted it.  I bought some of the classic astrology books and a complete set of ephemeris from 1900 forward.  I continued this process as Saturn moved into my 3rd.

Core values — the principles and ethics and preferences you most believe in — Saturn in your 2nd may be suggesting it’s time for a review.  Are you living what you most believe?  Sagittarius is the sign that rules religion and philosophy.  Especially with Neptune squaring Saturn from your 5th — your children may ask you some tough questions, or even behave in a way that causes  you to question your own upbringing.  What role did religion play in your childhood?  Do you question authority or accept it, thinking that others  know more than you do?  I am somewhat rebellious, being Aquarian.  I read The Bible straight through, more than once,  and made up my own mind about what it meant.  Then I read books from other religions and looked for the similarities rather than the differences.  Personally, in my line of work, I find it appropriate to be versatile, so I can speak the language that my client is most comfortable with.  Now they have college classes that do the same — comparative religious philosophy.  Some of you with this transit are going to make a very big change in this area.  If you are a sincere seeker, you will be led in the right direction.  There’s an old Theosophical  saying — “ Seek beauty, for therein lies Eternal Truth.”

It’s kind of odd but kids that grow up in the country often move to the city, and  vice versa.  I have seen this also with religion.  Preachers’ kids can rebel and run wild, while kids with little religious education as children, often seek that spiritual commitment as adults.

To sum up, people with Saturn in their 2nd need to take their money, their talents, and their plans for their future seriously this year.  Uranus trines from your 6th, and Jupiter right now,  but not for long, trines from Leo and your 10th.  These Fire trines offer you a most wonderful opportunity to achieve career and financial goals.  Even if things seem unstable, things could work out in a fabulous way you never expected.  Stay grounded, work hard, and keep your eye on your long-term future…GOOD LUCK !!!

Well, dear Readers, that’s it for now.  The next post will be Jupiter moving into Virgo beginning 8-11-15.  My garden awaits…may you all have a joyous and abundant harvest…Blessings,   Jenae
