OTTER SPACE ASTROLOGY — JUPITER IN SCORPIO — 10-10-2017  PART TWO

Back again, dear Friends and Readers… Let’s talk about the glorious possibilities of Jupiter’s transit through Scorpio.

As far as the world, further archeological exploration can discover some amazing things about the earth’s greatest mysteries.  These discoveries may be underwater since Scorpio is a water sign, but the use of science and technology and the NASA maps could mean there are great new discoveries buried in the earth, too. I love reading about people in England discovering ancient treasures from the Vikings, and  the beautiful tile work discovered consistently all over the MidEast and around the Mediterranean.  Depending on where you live, you could have great fun with a metal detector, or digging for rocks and gems.  For those who like shopping, you can use Jupiter to find hidden treasure at garage sales, junk stores, and antique stores, too.

Medicine will continue to make great discoveries. Jupiter expands whatever it touches. The medical research will be like a snowball, gaining traction and momentum. We are on the verge of huge breakthroughs to cure diseases and bring better health to people. There are a lot of ethical questions to be decided with the research into the very keys of life. Switch off the Alzheimers gene, or the cancer gene? Sounds pretty good.  Start tinkering with designer babies?  Not so good. I think it was Edgar Cayce who said when we started playing God, look out world! Expect the great debates on this, with people very divided on how far the scientists should be allowed to experiment.  Animal research is one example.  IS it fair to the animals? I see both sides of the argument.  At the very least, all animals in captivity should be treated kindly.

Jupiter in Scorpio will sextile Saturn in Capricorn. This is a great year to invest in your future. This could mean retirement accounts, or education, or simply trying to get some savings together. With finances, Scorpio is anything of yours that someone else has a hand in or an interest in. Scorpio rules inheritance, insurance, taxes and government money, big corporate money, and investments like mutual funds.  I’m not a big fan of mutual funds, especially the ones with a high front-end load. But the closed end funds and ETF’s have their place in a portfolio. Those are the ones you can buy and sell on the exchanges and not have to wait to the end of the day.  If you’re young enough, and have the time to weather the ups and downs, then the Vanguard funds are a good example of the lower fees and decent returns over time. The older you get the less you should have in risky investments, so for you that might mean this is a great year to start studying bonds. For those with young children, this Jupiter transit could mean you begin investing in a 529 plan, which is college money for your children or grandchildren. But investing begins after you have some emergency savings in liquid cash. And the way things are going, achieving that is harder than it used to be! Read Suzie Orman for practical financial advice.

If you have Jupiter transiting your 8th house this year, it will be easier to get credit or a loan. Just don’t go overboard. Loans have to be paid back!  A business partnership would be governed by both the 7th and the 8th houses.  In general, this could be a good year to start a business with a partner, but much would depend on the individual charts.

Looking at the long-term trends, tech, biotech, robotics, and cyber safety are going to be front and center for a while…

Maybe we should look at a few not so glorious possibilities….Jupiter transits in trine to Neptune. While this transit is good for medicine and healing, it’s not so good for taking action regarding the sea. We are killing the ocean as if we had no care for the generations to follow. I say this on a world level, not pointing the finger at any country in particular, though I dearly wish the USA would do more to protect the oceans and the fish and sea creatures. There are inventive young people who have won grants and they are building filters that suck the tiny particles of plastic out of the ocean. There’s already some in Baltimore harbor that collects the larger garbage. It’s a start, but considering how much toxic waste, sewage, garbage, etc. is dumped daily….there are floating islands, miles long, of nothing but garbage.  There’s a big dead zone in the Gulf where nothing lives. Watch the coral, folks, the coral reefs are  the canary in the coal mine of the ocean.  And, sadly, they are dying at an unprecedented rate.

I think what bothers me about this trine is the possibility that people just sit around and daydream and do nothing. Granted, daydreams are valuable, too, but sometimes it takes a square to get anything done.  Squares are challenging, but they can also represent huge accomplishments.  Watch and see what happens next summer and fall when Mars in Aquarius squares Jupiter. We’ll see… I hope enough people work together globally to demand that the clean-up begins. For example, why should ships be allowed to dump their garbage in the ocean?  Why can’t all ships have composting toilets?  There are small islands in the Pacific that are doing more to help the ocean than the bigger countries. They are miles ahead of us. They plant mangroves to protect against erosion. They limit fertilizers in certain places so the run off doesn’t feed the algae,  and algae smothers the coral. They prohibit commercial fishing in some areas but they still make the money with tourists and scuba diving. The reason Cuba’s reefs are in better shape is they don’t use the commercial fertilizers that are causing the nitrogen run-off.  TG!  The most hated company in the world is Monsanto. With good reason.

Social media is both a blessing and a curse. Jupiter in Scorpio could go either way. Bullying could increase and hurt more children, or enough people could stand up and stand together that schools and communities put new rules and laws in place to stop it.  Have you noticed the trend ever since Pluto entered Capricorn? That high profile people with skeletons in their closets are getting exposed?  It’s in the news almost every day — politicians, celebrities, athletes, corporate Ceo’s and Cfo’s.  Expect this to increase even more as Saturn joins Pluto and Jupiter in Scorpio makes research even easier. The truth will come out. IMO, all parents should keep an eye on what their kids are doing on the internet and on social media. I tell my young clients that they might want to be mayor at 40, so they better keep their lives clean now, because if not, it WILL come out.  The young don’t always have perspective; I’m not sure if they believe me.  Watch and see what happens in the next year or two. Meanwhile, we ordinary people should live our lives as if WE will be  tomorrow’s headlines.  I didn’t make that up; my Dad told me that many years ago.  It was good advice…keep it clean, folks, these are tricky times we live in…karma seems to be speeding up.

If you want to write in and tell me where Jupiter in Scorpio is transiting in your chart, post a message, and after you tell me what you think it might mean, then I’ll share my opinion, if you like. Even though I write these posts, I enjoy dialogue more than monologue. Till next time,  best wishes, Jenae…

WISH UPON A STAR — OTTERSPACE ASTROLOGY — May 21, 2016 FULL MOON

SO HOW IS THIS FIRE MONKEY YEAR TREATING YOU SO FAR? MARS RETROGRADE — 2016

Hello Dear Friends and Readers, Life has just been barreling by like a speeding train. In support of a friend,  another writer, I have decided to spend this weekend writing. Full Moon in Sag, and Gemini Sun can mean transportation and communication are stressed, so I’d  rather hang out with you guys than try to go anywhere.  Hopefully the Mercury retrograde won’t make posting glitchy…the phone went out once and the internet has been off and on for the last couple weeks. Typical.  Mercury moves fwd tomorrow !!!  I’m ready !!!

Today I want to talk about Mars retrograde. First, though, a discussion of this year in general…

My daughter’s Hawaiian teacher said the Year of the Fire Monkey would be fast-paced, with lots of opportunities, but glitchy, necessitating a Plan A, Plan B, and even and Plan C. Good for innovation, inventions, and inspiration. I think this is very accurate description of the loose but potent Mutable Grand Cross we will be experiencing now — starting TODAY and continuing through JUNE. We have Jupiter in Virgo, opposed by Neptune in Pisces, plus Saturn in Sag along with Mars in Sag, too.  This creates a T-square that pushes a lot of energy out the empty place — Gemini.  So now that the Sun, and Mercury soon, are transiting through Gemini, these placements turn into a Grand Cross.  The mutable signs are getting hit hard this year, but so is anyone with a bunch of mutable planets in their chart. I can always tell who will call me for readings based on the position of Saturn.  More mutable sign clients have called this year especially.  Mutable signs are flexible, sometimes a bit scattered, able to jump on sudden opportunities more easily than either fixed or cardinal signs.  Most people I’ve talked to this year are feeling hemmed in by obligations in multiple areas of life, with little or no free time.  They’ve had to stay focused, disciplined, and draw boundaries to protect themselves from people who would be energy vampires and distract them from their primary tasks.  That doesn’t sound fun, does it? But along with all that duty and responsibility (Saturn), many of them have been able to buy houses, get raises, get degrees or progress in their careers and/or goals that are very important to them.  Saturn is a lot about manifestation. So you see?  It’s not such a bad year after all.  Things can be pretty good, it’s just there’s a more serious tone…

To me, it’s like there’s 2 worlds running concurrently. The outer world is a mess — I wrote about that already — extremes everywhere.  Our personal worlds contain some really important growth and accomplishments…which brings me to Mars…

Mars is the symbol for action, physical energy, initiative, leadership, sports, fights, accidents, and heroism. Kind of a mixed bag and some people are better at handling their Mars energy than others.  Often when Mars conjoins the Ascendant we will get a brief fever or pull a muscle. Mars in your 4th? Clean house but guard against accidents by using proper tools, etc. Mars in your 7th ?— let your mate be the boss…it’s easier … Mars in your 10th ?— time to show your best initiative at work, maybe hussle to meet some deadlines.

I think Mars retrograde can be a blessing this year in particular because it gives us all a chance to look back over our plans and dreams and make corrections if necessary. Remember that PLAN B & C?  Now’s the time to implement them.  Mars went retro at 8 degrees Sag on 4-17-2016 and it goes all the way back to 23 degrees Scorpio, going direct on 6-29-2016. Mars re-enters Sag on 8-3-16 and conjoins transiting Saturn in the 4th week of August.  I’ll give you an example.  I’d been thinking  about how to reach people with certain information that is not widely available.  My friend the writer (www.growingupsuperheroes.com ) gave me a most valuable tip on how I could do it. Maximize my Mars energy.  She is very smart. And clever.  And we had this conversation during Mars retro.

Here’s another example. I had one Sag client that was oh so upset because the house she had her heart set on didn’t come through. I kept telling her to be patient, the Universe had something better in mind for her, and to keep looking.  And guess what?  She stayed flexible, adjusted her area to look just a bit, and she found an even better house.  Oh the joy !!!  Good thing it will close after Mercury is forward…

It’ so easy to have faith when everything is going well, and so very hard when the chips are down. But that’s the real test— faith when things aren’t going well — that leads to the best and brightest breakthroughs.  I truly believe that is our mutual task for the next month — to stay flexible and work patiently toward our goals and dreams, even if there are obstacles. And please remember to be a polite and observant pedestrian and driver.  The news is just full of the stress on transportation.  Be safe, dear friends, and I’ll try to write again soon…Namaste, Jenae

dgchart  Hello Dear Friends and Readers, Here is a real life chart from a woman who sent in her birth data. Jupiter will transit her 4th house of home and family until October 1, 2015, at which time it moves into her 5th house of creativity, fun, kids, etc. There is a very strong influence on health and wellness from now till mid-September as transiting Jupiter opposes Chiron and Mercury (Mercury rules Virgo) and then conjoins her North Node and Pluto in her 4th.  This is certainly the time to read and study about wellness and to improve her health. Not only her health but also that of others.  Jupiter in the 4th often expands the family.  One possibility would be family coming to visit her, or even moving into her home.  The underlying reason may have something to do with health — like taking care of someone short-term who has just had surgery. It’s a great transit to improve the functionality of her home, repairs, troubleshooting, etc. Repairs are best done between September 6 – 16th.  Virgo also rules small pets, so one more possibility would be vet care for a pet, or getting a new pet and taking it to the vet just for a check up.  From October 2015 to September 10, 2016, Jupiter in her 5th puts the emphasis on kids, letting the child in herself come out to play, creativity of all kinds including all the fabric arts, and in general allowing herself to try new activities. She is Pisces, so dancing, photography, fishing, decorating shoes — al these are astrologically appropriate :))

Looking at her whole chart, it’s pretty imperative spiritually that she does something to alleviate suffering in society.  Three 29* placements in a chart is unusual.  She might be a social worker, a chiropractor, or in the medical field. Of course, she could be a dance teacher, too :))  Dancing is very therapeutic and brings joy to alleviate suffering.  Maybe she’ll write in again and let us know :))  Here’s a couple of key transits that only come around once every 12 years:  Jupiter trine her Moon and sextile her Part of Fortune — fwd 2nd 1/2 November, retro end Feb.to early March, and fwd again middle 1/3 July 2016.  Looks like she gets 3 tries to assimilate some spiritual growth and also to finish her creative projects :))  Jupiter will oppose her Sun the 1st 1/3 of September 2016. Her personal time vs. time with friends and groups?  Travel with a group?  Escorting a grown kid to college?  Time management will be important all year… Best wishes, Jenae
